Oros is a dangerous area. Watch out both for enemies and predators.

1. Collect every item you find since the very beginning of the game. Obtained materials will be useful for upgrading items, crafting weapons and expanding the settlement. Sometimes you will find dead animals killed by other predators - don't ignore them, you never know when and what kind of leather will be needed.

2. Sneak. Early in the game Takkar is definitely not the strongest warrior in Oros. Until you invest skill points in abilities that increase your health and speed up regeneration, direct confrontations might not end well. Especially when facing blood thirsty predators.

3. Travel during day. If possible, early in the game you should avoid longer journeys during night. At night it is easier to find a group of predators or to be attacked by real beasts - tigers or bears.

4. Always aim at the head. Headshot will be always effective against the enemies met during first hours of the game. Only later will you face better armored and stronger opponents. Shooting the head will also allow you to save some ammunition.

5. Bow is the best long range weapon. It is fast and it allows eliminating enemies from safe distance. Remember about having enough arrows and that you can take them back from the bodies of killed enemies.

Owl is perfect for reconnaissance.

6. Use the owl. You will gain access to this companion very quickly. It is useful mostly for reconnaissance and, after upgrading, for marking the enemies.

7. Don't ignore quests related to the tribe. They won't take much time and later will allow you to expand the village and obtain new upgrades. Completing these missions will also increase the population and provide you with more materials.

8. Tame the animals. You should focus on it as early as possible by investing in related abilities. Each animal has different statistics and one thing in common - they will help you in battle. Some of them will quietly eliminate opponents. Others will kill them with brutal force. In any case they will distract enemies of Takkar.

9. While exploring the map, try to take over piles and visit the campfires. This will allow you to unlock quick travel. In addition to that, if you die, you will respawn in the last visited campfire instead of the end of the map.

10. Use hunter vision. This will allow you to quickly find interesting places, animals and items.

11. Use the weapons efficiently and maintain them in good condition. Burning club will be effective for scaring animals away and for fast attacks (plus as a torch in darker places). Bow is great for quietly eliminating completely unaware enemies. Well aimed spear throw can knock down stronger opponents. Every weapon has limited durability (when a weapon is on fire it breaks faster) and the only way to obtain a new one is to craft it or take it out of the cold hands of a dead enemy.

12. Focus on proper abilities. Unlock additional health bars (Extra health I, Extra health II) as quickly as possible. Then you should invest in skills that allow taming stronger animals. The faster you gain access to bears and tigers, the better. Take interest in gathering skills (Skinning I, Skinning II) thanks to which you will obtain more materials. Once you bring Jayma and Karoosh, focus on Craft Arrows I (if you use bow frequently, then the lack of arrows and need for collecting wood can be irritating) and then in the ability to ride on mammoths (Mammoth rider) and other animals (Beast rider). Once Takkar has tamed animals and is able to ride them, he becomes an actual killing machine.

13. Don't attack the old mammoths. Just don't.
