Last update: 11 May 2016

You will encounter several types of enemies. In the beginning, the foes won't have any armor so their defense will be low. As the time goes by, enemies with slings, Berserk Bombs, Fire Bombs and giant clubs will show up.

Be careful while shooting armored enemies - a regular bow won't pierce their headgear.

The safest way to eliminate the weak enemies is shooting them in the heads with your bow. You can get rid of the enemies even from a distance. Later on, some foes will wear armor on their faces. In that case, the first shot will only destroy the armor, which will increase your chance of getting spotted. Therefore, you should try to find another way of eliminating such enemies or use a better bow. You can also use your sling, which might be able to pierce armor after buying the Precision Sling ability.

The enemies who throw poisonous bombs will keep tossing them until you get rid of them - it might complicate fighting and reduce your view. Their effects can be eliminated by using the Antidote. Members of the Izila tribe throw burning projectiles. You can reduce their damage as well, with the Fireproof recipe. Be careful when dealing with them, because they will run at you after you set them on fire until they die (a few seconds).

Takedowns are a sure way of killing enemies, but they require sneaking up on them. - How to fight the enemies? - FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions - Far Cry Primal - Game Guide and Walkthrough
Takedowns are a sure way of killing enemies, but they require sneaking up on them.

Enemies who wield clubs are a tough nut to crack. In the beginning, they are quite challenging because of their significant strength and resistance to damage. Neither the bow or a frontal attack will work. The best way to eliminate them is with a takedown, but first, you need to buy the Heavy Takedown skill. It will allow you to kill one of the strongest enemies instantly, by sneaking up behind him or falling on him.

If your character is weak and you can't handle a heavy enemy, try a ruse. Using the Berserk Shard, or the Berserk Bomb later in the game, will let you make the enemy go insane without even touching him (you can drop the bomb with the owl if you buy corresponding upgrades). He will start attacking everyone around him. Because of the strength and resistance of heavy units, there is a chance that he will kill everyone around him and then die (the poison kills after some time).

You can use animals to attack the enemies. The owl can kill single foes after buying its first upgrade, and later on, drop bombs on them. Tamed animals can be used to attack settlements, they can also help you with more difficult quests. Remember that some of them are better at stealth (jaguar), while others - at regular combat (bear, tiger).

Staying hidden as long as its possible will let you tag more enemies and kill at least some of them. - How to fight the enemies? - FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions - Far Cry Primal - Game Guide and Walkthrough
Staying hidden as long as it's possible will let you tag more enemies and kill at least some of them.

Regardless of the enemy's type, try to kill them stealthily. It is both the safest and the most awarded way of doing it. Do not forget about upgrades and increasing effectiveness of basic weapons (club, spear, new bows) to eliminate the enemies more effectively. Keep in mind your area attacks (bombs) which let you kill more enemies at once. When you progress, you'll be given access to new weapons, it's a good idea to use them in some specific moments. Nevertheless, nothing is better than accuracy, takedowns and animals.
