Revealing the map | Basics Far Cry Primal Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
At first Oros map is covered. To change that, you must simply walk or ride for some time. New parts of the map are revealed when Takkar walks close enough. The range of uncovered area can be increased by buying skills (Reveal terrain I, Reveal terrain II). Only once you have these skills you should focus on revealing the whole map. However, focusing on it isn't necessary - many missions force you to go to various corners of the map anyway. When doing that, pieces of map become revealed automatically. If you want to uncover the whole map as fast as possible, then use a tamed animal or a young mammoth for traveling.
The range of your sight and new activities are unlocked by taking over the bonfires and setting them on fire. They are scattered across the whole Oros. Usually they are guarded only by a few enemies and taking them over isn't challenging. However, watch out, as the bonfire that are most far away from Takkar's village are protected by stronger enemies. In addition to that, enemies with horns can be nearby. When you are detected, they can send all nearby enemies at you. Due to that, it is best to remain hidden for as long as possible and use the owl to mark enemies close to the bonfire.
In order to take over a bonfire you must kill all enemies that are nearby. Then, ignite the bonfire. This will unlock a quick travel point, a reward stash and a resting place. You will also gain some experience points and the population of the village will increase. Some fires near the bonfires will also become marked as quick travel points. Try to take over bonfires whenever you are close, this will save you the trouble of walking in the future.
