Gathering resources
Every object you can craft requires resources. Recipes demand plants, crafting weapons will use wood and rocks, and upgrading items require animal hides. Therefore, you should collect everything you can find, especially in the beginning. Buy some gathering upgrades to facilitate finding resources by showing them on the minimap.
Increasing the population of your village is not a bad idea either. It will give you resources that you need for item and village upgrades. Population of 60 Wenja villagers is not hard to unlock (bonfires, sidequests, outposts) and it gives you a large daily amount of resources.
Remember to collect loot bags. You will find quite a lot of them out in the open; they usually contain common resources and hides. You can find better items in the northern and southern areas, but the best loot can be obtained inside caves.
Crafting weapons
To use a weapon, you have to unlock it in the crafting menu. Then, if you have the required resources, you will be able to craft such a weapon. It means that your weapon reserve will eventually deplete, no matter if you unlock a weapon or not. If you run out of arrows, you will not be able to use the bow until you find or make more. Pay close attention to your ammo and resources for making it while completing a mission. You only need resources to craft a weapon. After you unlock Wogah the Crafter, you can upgrade your quiver in the crafting menu.
Remember that your weapons wear out during combat. When it burns, its durability is lowered.
Equipment upgrades
To upgrade your equipment, you need the right hides. If you have them, select an upgrade in the crafting menu. You should focus especially on your weapon, which you should upgrade systematically. Some weapons become available after unlocking villagers and building huts for them.
