How to defeat Behemoth? | Side quests - Other locations Dying Light: The Following Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Behemoth can be found inside of a warehouse, located at the southern section of the map. The warehouse is standing adjacent to a granary - the exact location can be seen on the above screenshot.
The warehouse can be entered by jumping through a small barricade - the barricade itself will prevent the Behemoth from leaving the building. You should either stay inside the warehouse, or attack the boss from outside of it, by using a ranged weapon. Behemoth is a (significantly) stronger version of the regular mutant. The monster will try to attack you in melee with his upper limbs and charges, while throwing blocks of concrete at you from afar - a successful hit will result in Crane getting knocked back and to the ground.
Note - before engaging the main enemy, try to eliminate all of the normal infected inside of the warehouse, as well as around the building. This way you won't have to deal with them during the encounter with the boss.
You shouldn't try to defeat the Behemoth in melee combat, as it is an extremely difficult feat to achieve. By using that strategy, you would have to focus on finding an opening between the boss' attacks, and constantly monitor Crane's health bar and keep him at full health. Using ranged weapons is both more effective and less difficult. You should use an assault rifle, a crossbow (with explosive bolts, if possible), or thrown items (such as the Explosive Throwing Stars). Moreover, you can also use a shotgun, but while doing so you will have to wait for the enemy to approach the barricade to deal any real damage. Regardless of your approach, try to destroy the headgear of the enemy as quickly as possible. When his head is exposed, focus all of your attacks at it, allowing you to deplete his health bar quicker.
The thing increasing the difficulty of the whole encounter is the fact, that the sounds of battle will surely lure numerous running infected. You can't ignore them, as they will be constantly preventing you from fighting the boss, not to mention that they can easily overpower and kill the main character in a matter of seconds. As soon as you hear their screams and notice the icon on the mini-map, change your weapon to a quick one-handed melee one and take them out. Get back to attacking the boss only when you (temporarily) clear the area out of the running infected.
You must deplete the health bar of the enemy in order to defeat the monster. As a reward for your hard work, you will be given an unique blueprint - Big Thunder.
