Use the window to get around the obstacle. - Escape from Dunwall Tower | Mission 1 - Mission 1 - A Long Day in Dunwall - Dishonored 2 Game Guide
Use the window to get around the obstacle.

After a short introduction, you'll need to decide on the character you want to play with. You can choose between Corvo Attano, a professional killer known from the previous installment, and Emily Caldwin, his daughter. In reality, the choice isn't that important, as the plot will play out the same way. However, the characters differ in possessed abilities, which were described in detail in the previous chapters of this guide. After a cut-scene, you'll find yourself in a room which seems to be without an exit. You'll need to use the window on the right side to access the neighboring room.

Retrieve your weapons from Alexi Mayhew. - Escape from Dunwall Tower | Mission 1 - Mission 1 - A Long Day in Dunwall - Dishonored 2 Game Guide
Retrieve your weapons from Alexi Mayhew.

Once you enter the neighboring room, approach Alexi Mayhew and make a short conversation with her. Before you hit the road, start exploring the room in which you are currently in. There is a hidden passage to Safe Room, which will be handy in the further part of the mission, tables with food (to regain some of the lost health), and sideboards contains some coins (more about coins in "Currency and Shops" chapter). Once you leave the room, there is a door to a small room on the left, with bath salts (15 coins) hidden behind it. The same item can be found in a bathroom located at the end of the hall.

Hide behind the pillar on the right, and wait until Ramsay leaves the throne room. - Escape from Dunwall Tower | Mission 1 - Mission 1 - A Long Day in Dunwall - Dishonored 2 Game Guide
Hide behind the pillar on the right, and wait until Ramsay leaves the throne room.

Once you explore the area, go to the floor below, where you'll find your first enemy target. You can follow one of two ways. First involves a direct encounter with Mortimer Ramsay. He is standing in the main chamber with two guards, but it won't be a tough fight. However, if you don't want to fight with all the enemies at once, hide in the place shown on the screenshot, and wait until Mortimer leaves the throne room. Regardless of the battle plan, the first way of completing the task is killing Mortimer directly (this may result in the bad ending).

The second way involves stunning the enemy. Wait until Mortimer leaves the throne room, and sneak up to him when he is in the adjacent room, looking at the picture hung on the wall. Once you stun Mortimer, you'll receive a plot item - Imperial Signet Ring, which will unlock the access to the Safe Room. Before you proceed, visit all rooms below. You'll find some journals, and gold coins that may come in handy later. After a thorough search, take the stunned Mortimer with you, and take him to the Safe Room. The elimination will be successful only when you close the Safe Room from the inside. Make up your mind on what you want to do - you can still just thrust a dagger into his neck.

Take the items from the table before proceeding further. - Escape from Dunwall Tower | Mission 1 - Mission 1 - A Long Day in Dunwall - Dishonored 2 Game Guide
Take the items from the table before proceeding further.

Regardless of the decision made, approach the table seen on the screenshot. There is a healing potion on it, and a pistol and ammo in the further part. There is a treasury with two safes on the other side of the room. The safe on the left contains a small gold bar that will reinforce your inventory with 150 gold coins. Make sure to pick it up before proceeding further. Emily's room contains your first sculpture - Samuel Beechworth Carving. After a thorough search of all the rooms, use the Imperial Signet Ring to reach Dunwall Streets. The door is opposite to the treasury.
