Eliminate Duke Abele | Mission 8 Dishonored 2 Guide
Last update: 23 December 2016
After you have arrived in a new location, head up ahead and you will spot two guards by the table. Hide behind the luggage in the center and eavesdrop on their conversation. After it finishes, they will split and you will be able to eliminate them without major problems. Before you go to the rail (if it is functioning), collect the map from the noticeboard. Also, you can eliminate two guards by the water, because they have several tens of coins on them. If you have robbed the black market shop in Ravina Boulevard, or simply bought the engineer's note, power supply to the rail will be cut off. You can jump onto the railway and walk over to the grand palace on foot.
From the conversation with Meagan at the beginning of the mission, you have learned that the Duke has a double, which kind of protects him from possible plots on his life. Head towards the Grand Palace and walk over to the staircase on the right. You will spot a guard there, who is talking to a civilian. From the conversation, you will learn a useful piece of information that will allow you to tell difference between the actual Duke and his double. The piece of information is the fact that the actual Duke has the vault key on him. After the conversation, the guard will go on patrolling the rest of the estate and this will be your opportunity to eliminate both of the men.
Walk onto the stairs, into the spot shown in the above screenshot. In the distance, you will spot several guards, and several more past them. If yours is the ghost path, jump onto the rocks on the right and make it over onto the fragment that connects them with the rooftop.
You will reach the area shown in the above screenshot. Down below, there are two guards, another one on the elevation and under the roofing farther up, an elite guard and a dog. If you are playing at one of the top difficulty levels, it is a good idea to sneak up behind them to eliminate them.
Glued to the right wall, walk as far as possible, not to be spotted by the guard next to the entrance.
As soon as you hide behind the pillar, Blink or use Far Reach to get behind the dog and the guard. The exact spot where you should do this has been shown in the above screenshot. After you make it over there, get the guard from behind, while aiming a sleep dart at the dog. As soon as you notice the gray "alertness" icon above the dog's head, fire at it and dash towards the guard to eliminate him. Of course, you can use two sleep darts here, but they will come in handy, later into the mission. After you have dealt with the twosome, you can return to the guards before the roofing. All of them will be turned away from you, which makes dealing with them so much easier.
Note! If you have the bone charm that allows you to approach dogs to a shorter proximity before they detect you, use it. This will make things much easier.
After you have eliminated the enemies and concealed their corpses, go left to the area shown in the above screenshot and hop over the hedge. There, you will run into two civilians talking to each other, whom you can choke. At the moment at which they talk to each other, you can deal with the guard leaning against the wall.
Head towards the stairs and climb to a higher level. You will walk into a section with a swimming pool, at which there are two civilians, which you should deal with before you climb to the first floor. As soon as you do that, jump onto the wooden roofing and make it over onto the roof above the swimming pool. This will get you to the spot shown in the above screenshot. Wait for the patrolling guard to approach you and eliminate him without alarming the servants farther up on the roofing.
After you have eliminated the guard, head towards the passage shown in the above screenshot. Here, you will find two servants talking, and down below, on the left, there is a location where Duke Abele may be - the Throne Room. If you want to eliminate the Duke in a non-hostile way, it is necessary that you eliminate these two servants. Wait for them to stop talking, lean out to interrupt them and attack them as soon as they split.
After you have done that, jump onto the wall to take a look at what is going on in the throne room. Either of the two is possible. Either, there is a chambermaid here, or Duke Abele himself, accompanied by two elite guards. If the Duke actually is in the room, wait for him to send the guards away(this happens every time you see Duke, regardless of the location).
As soon as the guards leave the room, Blink, or use Far Reach to get to the spot shown in the above screenshot. This will get you past the Duke but more importantly, past the arc pylon. In the left, there is a power supply unit for the pylon. Remove the whale oil tank from the box to disable it. At this point, you can approach the Duke and rob him. If he has the vault key on him, this will mean that this is the actual Luca Abele. If, on the other hand, he has a chest key on him, this will mean that it's his double. On the chair, there is another bone charm, so collect it before you move on.
Head towards the door with arc pylon by and walk outside. Here, you will find two guards. One of them is standing by one of the doors and the other one at the other. Eliminate them before you move on.
Your next stop is the terrace opposite the Throne Room exit, at which there is a guard standing. Wait for a moment, before they finish talking and eliminate them. Then, go right, where you find a passage boarded over, shown in the above screenshot. This way, you will get into an abandoned storage. Inside, there are several bloodfly nests, from which you can collect blood amber. Also, there are two passages here. The one on the left will take you to the exit at the other side, whereas the one on the right leads to the flooded basement, where there is a way to two collectibles. Before you go to the basement, though, walk outside, remove the oil tank from the arc pylon power supply box on the terrace.
The first collectible, i.e. a rune, is opposite the passage shown in the above screenshot, on the crates to the left. It is easy to miss.
After you have collected the rune, head right and dive under the wooden boards shown in the above screenshot. At the other side, destroy the planks and enter the shrine, where you find another bone charm.
Enter Abele's vault and search it. You will find lots of valuables here, including a blueprint - Folded Galvani Resin. It is on the table. You won't be able to enter the vault before you obtain the key that the real Duke has on him. Therefore, backtrack to the abandoned storage, where you have found bloodflies.
After you have walked into the next section (along the other storage exit), jump onto the wall and you will get into the spot shown in the above screenshot. You will be able to eliminate the civilians that you spot on the terrace. Right past them, there is another location, in which you may find Duke Abele.
Go now to the back of the estate (the above screenshot), and you will find a guard behind the wall, on the left. It would be best to eliminate him with a sleep dart, because he is leaning against the wall, which makes it impossible to get him from behind. In the next part, you will encounter a clockwork soldier and a guard in a blue uniform, patrolling the area. First of all, deal with the guard, at the moment at which he is in the leftmost part of the location. This way, you will not be potted by the clockwork soldier, who is on the right. If you spot the Duke, repeat the tactic that has been described for the earlier part of the mission.
Backtrack now into the spot shown in the above screenshot and jump onto the wooden roof. Up there, there are two civilians and a servant. Eliminate them in the standard way and jump across the small window above the servant, to get into the spot shown in the above screenshot. This is the "playing room" and there are many people here. Make it over behind the counter (Blink or use Far Reach) and use a tier three stun mine to deal with all of them. Before you climb down, look through the keyhole at the white door on the right. Here, you will find a clockwork soldier patrolling the balcony. When he is far away from you, open the door, plant a stun mine and return. Also, you can bang the door to make the soldier start searching the area, as a result of which he will approach the mine.
After you have searched the playing room, you can walk out into the balcony and knock out two civilians there, after which you should return into the room and climb down the stairs (the screenshot). On the left, there are white doors. Enter and leave immediately. In there, there are two women that will interrupt your action, even if you were sneaking. Fire a sleep dart at the woman on the left, because it will be difficult to sneak up to her. Inside the room, there is a bone charm on the bed.
Return to the playing room and exit to the balcony across the white door. If you have planted a mine earlier, this should have destroyed the clockwork soldier. Go to the end of the hall and in the next room, you will find two guards. First, deal with the one leaning against the barrier (preferably, using a sleep dart), and then with the one next to the couch. This way, you will have cleared the entire left wing of the estate, along the balcony above the dining hall mentioned at the beginning of the mission.
After you have eliminated guards up above, jump down and enter, and you will get into the location shown in the above screenshot. On the left, there is a guard in blue uniform sitting on the stairs and there are two more on the right. Here, you will also find a dog (right at the wall on the right) as well as an elite guard patrolling the entire dining hall. Your task here is to put the dog to sleep and wait for the elite guard, who will finally return to his position and away from you.
If the elite guard is currently across the location, you can approach on the left side and eliminate the guard sitting on the stairs. Remember to conceal his body before you start eliminating the rest of the guards.
After the guard comes back to his position, Blink behind him and knock him down. From this position, you will also be able to deal with the dog and all the unconscious civilians and guards sitting at the table. Of course, remain silent in the course of that, because even the slightest noise can attract attention of the civilians playing on instruments.
After you have eliminated the guards and civilians in the dining hall, there will be three more people to eliminate. The guard is sleeping on the right, whereas two civilians are playing on the instruments. You can ignore them completely and head on, or use a glass bottle to interrupt them and have the guard start patrolling the room. You can now go to the door on the right and climb down to the basement, This is the way that will later lead you to the Duke's vault, which you have already visited while coming here from the side of the yard. You should only watch out for the two guards patrolling the kitchen.
After you have cleared the entire first floor, return to the playing room and cross the small window to get outside. You will get into the spot shown in the above screenshot, where you will have to hop over the wall and drop to a lower level in the spot shown in the above screenshot. Directly underneath, there is a First Captain patrolling, whom you have to eliminate. This is why, you should cross the small window and Blink, or use Far Reach to get behind the opponent's back.
Inside, you will find quite a few coin and a safe with a code lock. The safe combination is the Luca Abele's office (see further in the text). In the room, you will find full assortment of arms, thanks to which you will be able to replenish your supplies. Remember to collect sleep darts and the map of the Grand Palace hanging on the wall. In the room on the left, there are unconscious guards, which is why you should make sure that they remain that away until the end of the mission, by choking them. Later on, you will find a room with a woman sleeping, or pacing in it. She was the sole reason, for which you had to cross the entire estate and get through the back to get to her, because after opening the main door, the woman could spot you. This way, you have cleaned the entire ground floor and the first floor in the Grand Palace.
Head to the second floor now, over the stairs in the dining hall. Ignore the first door on the right and enter the Duke's office across the other doors. This is another place, where you can find either the Duke or his double. Follow the instructions provided earlier in the text. If you can steal the vault key, this will mean that this is the Duke himself. In the office itself, you will also encounter a clockwork soldier that you have to rewire to prevent it from disturbing you. On the desk, there is another audiograph and, on the desk to the left, First Captain's Note with the safe combination to the safe in his office. In the room above the fireplace, there also is a Painting - My Name On Their Lips, and a chest of drawers between selves, where there is a blueprint - Blade Conversion.
Go now to the Chambers of Delilah Copperspoon at the same floor. Inside, there are two servants and a guard, but you should have no problems while eliminating them. Inside, right by the window and the piano, there is another painting - Her Face is My Smile. IN the bathroom, under the sink, there also is a bone charm.
After you have ransacked the Duke's office, and the adjacent Delilah's chambers, you can head to the top floor. Just like earlier, you can encounter the Duke or his double there. Along your path, you will be passing by the sleeping chamber of Duke Abele. It is here that you will have bring his body, if you have chosen the non-lethal way of eliminating him. In here, you will also find a microphone. Using it will unlock another special action.
