Days Gone: Do I have to fight Horde? Days Gone guide, walkthrough
Last update: 12 December 2022
The world of Days Gone is roamed by dozens of Freakers hordes. This means that encounters with them are inevitable. Read this page to find out whether each encounter must end with a fight or is it possible to avoid confrontation.
- No, you don't have to fight with every Horde. You can go avoid them, even when some of the Freakers have spotted Deacon.
- Start attacking Hordes after you make enough progress, e.g. unlock useful skills, increase your stats, get better weapons or find schematics for bombs or traps.
- If you really want to attack a Horde, pick one of the smaller groups - those that consists "only" of several dozens of Freakers. Check the Game Basics chapter to learn how to fight with Hordes.
- The platinum trophy for Days Gone requires you to defeat only one Horde. Do that, and you will unlock One Down trophy. Attacking other Hordes is completely optional.
- You can run away from a Horde as soon as the Freakers spot you or when Deacon receives too much damage or runs out of ammo. The best way to run away is to use your motorbike. Running on foot is too risky - Deacon may have an insufficient amount of stamina points to escape a Horde.
- If you escape a Horde, you don't lose a chance of defeating this particular Horde. These Freakers can appear in this place later in the game. Go back to this spot after you get stronger.
- Be very careful when you are near the largest Hordes - the ones consisting of hundreds of Freakers. They may be either very difficult or impossible to kill - go back to them after you make enough progress.
- Some of the main missions require Deacon to get closer to a few Hordes. Complete the mission objectives successfully (e.g. follow a Horde and remain undetected or escape from it on the motorbike) and you will live.
