Skirmish and Domination mode in The Division 2 The Division 2 guide, tips
Last update: 12 April 2019
Conflict is a group of game modes available in Tom Clancy's The Division 2, focused around PvP gameplay. At the launch of the game there are two modes that can be accessed via Conflict - Skirmish and Domination. In this chapter you will find information about all of those activities.
How to begin
You can start a Conflict match through:
- An NPC found at the White House. You'll find him outside, next to the main door of the building.
- Open up the map and choose one of the tabs seen in the upper left corner of the screen.
This will initiate a matchmaking process and will allow you to look for other players to play with. Once it is done, the players will enter the voting screen, where there will be 3 maps to choose from, in two different game modes - Domination and Skirmish. The map with the most votes will be chosen for the game.
Rules
During a Skirmish match, two 4-man teams face each other. Each team receives a pool of 16 tickets - after the death of a team member, the pool is depleted by one point. As can easily be imagined, the objective is to deprive the other team of all their lives. The players enter a small arena which is full of various hiding places, pathways, and tunnels allowing a tactical approach.
Tips
Here are a few tips that will definitely come to be handy during matches:
- Teamplay is a must. To win, the players need to cooperate - you can defeat a single opponent alone, but fighting two opponents will end up with your swift death.
- Your objective is totally draining the opponents' tickets. The kill is counted when a downed opponent is killed - if someone revives him, the kill isn't counted.
- Skirmish is a mode in which equipment and unlocked abilities have an utmost effect on combat. If you don't have the right equipment, winning a Conflict match can be very difficult.
- If possible, join the battle with players that you know. The matches require constant cooperation, while the search engine likes to mix up groups of players with those playing solo. As a result, it may turn out that a group of four lone players will face a well-knit group of four friends - winning such an encounter is very difficult.
- Remember to open chests received at the end of the battle. Their amount is dependent on the results or if the player has received a new level by playing in this mode.
Rules - Domination
Domination is a game mode in two 4-man teams compete against each other and their goal is to seize control over 3 control points scattered around the map. The task of each player is to reach those control points and capture them. Each one control point in the possession of a specific team generates 1 point each second for the team. The team that fills the entire bar in the upper part of the screen or has more points at the end of the time limit will win the game.
Tips - Domination
Here is a handful of tips that will definitely be useful during matches in the Domination mode:
- As with the Skirmish mode, teamplay is crucial. Here, however, it might mean something else. Due to the fact that there are 3 control points and only 4 players in a team, the players must separate themselves from their allies and act alone or in two-man squads to be able to achieve the goal of the mode. Keep in mind, however, that you are not alone on the battlefield.
- Monitor the battlefield. Control points will constantly be recaptured, forcing you and your team to react swiftly. If you see that enemies try to capture a control point, head there immediately and try to stop them from that - either by throwing a grenade or setting up a turret. This will allow you to gain those few precious seconds, during which the rest of your team will reach the location and defeat the enemies.
- Protect control points. You only need 2 control points in your possession to win in this mode. You can capture 2 control points and protect them, preventing the enemy from recapturing it. Keep in mind, however, that the enemy will try to get them back - do not stand in the middle of it, as the enemies will try to flush you out with grenades.
- If you can, try to play in the Domination mode with people you know and/or can communicate with. Similarly to the Skirmish mode, in the Domination the communication is key. Without it you will not be able to emerge victorious, especially of the other team is well-coordinated.
- Remember to open the chests received for participation in this mode. They will appear in your inventory after each match and the amount you receive will depend on how well you did during the match - you can acquire from 1 to 3 chests each time.
