Recalibration in The Division 2 The Division 2 guide, tips
Last update: 12 April 2019
Recalibration was present in the first installment of the franchise, it comes back in Tom Clancy's The Division 2 as well. Even though the mechanic went through some changes, it still allows the players to slightly modify the acquired loot and change that one attribute that otherwise makes the item less valuable. From this chapter you will learn how to unlock this mechanic and how to use it effectively.
Unlocking Recalibration
The Recalibration mechanic is not available from the very beginning of the game - you first need to unlock it to make use of this useful mechanic. In order to do that you need to recruit one of the crew members - Emma Richards - that join the Base of Operations as the last staff member. The task is simple - you need to complete all of the main missions (aside from the Strongholds) of the campaign. Once you do it, you need to go to the Campus settlement, find Emma Richards and ask her to move to the Base of Operations in the White House.
Once that is done, Emma will appear near the Crafting Station. To activate Recalibration, you need to approach the Recalibration Station and interact with it.
How does the Recalibration work?
The Recalibration mechanic is quite simple - it allows the player to transfer one, specific stat of the item onto another one. For instance, if you have a piece of armor that gives you Skill Power and you need Critical Hit Chance, you need to go to the Recalibration Station, select the item that needs to be changed (the one with Skill Power), select the attribute you want to change and pick the item from your inventory that will have the desired attribute (the mentioned Critical Hit Chance). Now you simply need to confirm your selection - the new attribute will appear on the item, destroying the item that the stat was transferred from in the process.
Recalibration - tips
Here is a handful of tips concerning this mechanic:
- The Recalibration mechanic is an easy but effective method of adjusting items for specific roles. An item that at first glance might seem like a useless one might turn into a valuable one after a single change.
- You can change a single attribute only. Once the recalibration is over, the system will remember which parameter was transferred and you will not be able to pick another one. You can, however, recalibrate the same attribute again.
- Recalibration is not free. The process consumes quite a lot of crafting materials - think twice whether it is worth losing them.
- Keep in mind that the item from which you transfer the attribute will be destroyed in the process. Check your selection before the transfer takes place!
