Does The Division 2 require PS+ or Xbox Live Gold? The Division 2 guide, tips
Last update: 20 March 2019
People who plan on playing Tom Clancy's The Division 2 may wonder whether they will be able to play the game without having an online subscription (PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold).
PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold are necessary to play online modes in the majority of the games. This works slightly different for The Division 2 - you can play the game without owning a subscription. This is how it works:
- You can play solo without owning a subscription. You can explore the game's world, complete main and side quests, and participate in events happening on the map.
- The access to the Dark Zone is limited for those who don't have the subscription. You can enter a Dark Zone only once during the related quest. After completing it, you won't be able to enter that Zone again until you buy the subscription.
- PvP mode (player vs player), playing in teams and matchmaking won't work.
- Clans are also unavailable for those who don't own the subscription.
It is possible to play The Division 2 without paying additional fees. However, we recommend getting a subscription - even though the majority of the game's mechanics still work for those who don't want to pay extra money, the game becomes even more enjoyable when you play with friends.
