Titan - the best choice - recommendation | Classes Titanfall Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Once you finish the campaign mode, you unlock two types of Titans - mighty Ogre and agile Stryder. Along with Atlas they are available in class creation menu. The play style mostly depends on the Chassis you choose, so it is important to select an appropriate one to a given type of machine. Below, there are suggested sets, which can (and should) be modified to suit your play style.
Stryder
Stryder is the fast Titan. Its main disadvantage is its weak armor. Proper choice of weapon and abilities should tone in with the Titan's agility.
Primary weapon: 40 MM Cannon or X0-16 Chaingun
When playing as a Stryder you are in constant movement, so you need a fairly accurate and quick firing weapon.
ability: Electric Smoke
Allows you to quickly evacuate from hot zones.
Rockets: Rocket Salvo
Can be fired without locking on the enemy, which may save you a lot of trouble at times.
Kit 1: Dash Quickcharger
It speeds up dash regeneration, which is essential for Stryder.
Kit 2: Core Extender or Core Accelerator
Extends the duration of the core ability or reduces its charging time.
Ogre
The most powerful and best armored of all Titans. The slowest too, so do not expect to see a Titan equipped with this type of Chassis performing acrobatic stunts. On the other hand, an Ogre can take a lot of bullets before getting hurt. Remember though that it is not indestructible.
Primary weapon: Plasma Railgun or Arc Cannon
Since you are exposed to enemy fire anyway, it is good to try to shoot accurately, taking your time to aim in order to deal a lot of damage with every shot.
Ability: Vortex Shield or Particle Wall
Hiding behind a wall or a shield may often save you from a bullet storm, which otherwise would be hard to avoid with only one Dash available.
Rockets: Multi Target Missile System
Deadly rockets can hit several opponents at the same time. When staying on the first line of fire, you can take a few seconds to aim.
Kit 1: Regen Booster
Speeds up shield regeneration, thus protecting you against massive damage.
Kit 2: Big Punch
Perfect for melee combat, as it significantly improves the power of a Titan's punch.
Atlas
Atlas is a classic average guy - slower than Stryder, although faster than Ogre. With armor better than Stryder's, but worse than Ogre's. In other words, this Chasis is universal - it works fine in all circumstances, however, it does not have the advantages of the two other types.
Primary weapon: any
The choice of weapon should depend on your play style as well as on whether you control the Titan yourself or let AI take care of it.
ability: Vortex Shield
This will prove the best, as it enables you to keep an Ogre at a safe distance as well as prevents a Stryder do get too close.
Rockets: Slaved Warheads
This should prove the best, as it allows you to accurately hit both agile Stryders and slower Ogres. However, if you want to take something else, feel free to do so - any type of rockets works fine for Atlas.
Kit 1: Tactical Reactor
This allows you to use the Vortex Shield more frequently.
Kit 2: any
Base your choice on your preferred play style, e.g. if you want to improve your survivability, Auto-Eject should be a good choice.
