Types of damage in Starlink Battle for Atlas Starlink Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 26 October 2018
In Starlink, the majority of the weapons deal unique damage. Each type of damage has a different impact on enemies and environment. Below you can find the list of all types of damage along with their combinations.
Types of damage
The following list contains all types of damage found in Starlink along with their descriptions and weapons that deal them.
Type of damage | Weapon | Usage |
Fire | Flamethrower | Works great against everything that is made out of ice, i.e. ice Nova. Sets targets on fire which deals additional damage without a need of shooting your target. However, getting too close to this target will also deal damage to your ship. |
Overheat | Volcano, Meteor MK.2 | Works great against everything that is made out of ice. Increases a target's and your temperature. Inflicting this type of damage to a target that already is overheated will increase the damage. |
Cold | Freeze Ray | Works great against everything that is hot. Inflict this effect to slow enemies down - helpful in eliminating fast units. Receiving this type of damage will inflict the same effect. |
Frost | Frost Barrage | Works great against everything that is hot. Inflict this effect to stop enemies completely. After that you can keep firing at this enemy without the fear of receiving damage yourself. Receiving this type of damage will inflict the same effect. |
Gravity | Imploder, Crusher | Every target hit with this damage gets slowed down and deformed. Thanks to these weapons you can both slow an enemy down and increase accuracy of other weapons. |
Vortex | Nullifier | Vortex is a large anomaly that impacts all units within its radius. Enemies that get caught in Vortex won't be able to leave it. This type of damage can also increase accuracy of your attacks - a Vortex has the tendency to draw projectiles towards it. |
Stasis | Levitator | All small enemies are lift off the ground which makes them completely defenseless. Works great in fights against large groups of small enemies. |
Kinetic | Shredder MK.2, Shredder, Gauss Gun MK.2 | The most basic type of damage. It has no unique properties. The only thing it can do is to knock an enemy down when your damage is high enough. Works good against all enemies, whether they are vulnerable to ice or fire. |
Combinations
Below you can find the list of all damage combinations. Here, you can find their usage and requirements for causing a given effect.
Combination | Types of damage | Usage |
Thermal shock | Fire or overheat and cold or frost. | The combination of two opposite elements cause a small explosion that deals a lot of damage. |
Crush (Shatter) | Frost and kinetic. | Frost makes enemies incredibly brittle. Shooting them with a kinetic weapon can make them shatter into pieces. The higher the damage, the bigger the chance to cause this effect. |
Cold vortex | Frost or cold and vortex | Attack a vortex with ice to create frost zone that will freeze everything inside of it. Also, it causes enemies to lose their shields. |
Fire vortex | Fire or overheat and vortex | Created just like cold vortex but the difference here is that it sets everything within its range on fire. |
Frost breath | Cold or frost and stasis | Creates an ice shockwave that freezes all targets within its range. Works great on enemies that are standing next each other. |
Fire breath | Fire or overheat and stasis | Creates a fire shockwave that sets all targets on fire. Works great on enemies that are standing next each other. |
