Scanning and collecting samples in Starlink Battle for Atlas Starlink Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 26 October 2018
Every planet in Starlink has its own specific set of fauna and flora. All of them can be discovered by the player. Below you can find the descriptions of the mechanics that will allow you to discover all plants and animals found in the Atlas system.
Skanowanie
Every planet in Starlink is inhabited by unique animal species that can be discovered by you. This can be done by using the scan option. To start this process you need to get closer to a given animal. After that you can notice a few points - move your crosshair on them to perform a complete scan. You also need to keep the right distance. Being too far starts a countdown - you will have to get closer to the specimen. If you don't do that, you will fail the scanning.
However, you can't discover an entire species by scanning only one animal. You have to perform scanning on a few animals of the same species. The indicator in the upper left corner of the screen informs you about your progress in discovering a given species (see the picture below).
A species can be fully identified when you the indicator reaches 100%. Scan all the species living on a given planet to get 100% discover rate on it.
Scanning species that live on planets is also required by the Observatories. However, they are performed by using special equipment that belongs to a given Observatory. This means that you can't combine scans performed for the Observatories with scans that help you discover animal species.
Collecting samples
Collect the right samples to unlock a new entry regarding the plants. Keep your ship in the right spot for a certain period of time. If you fail to do that, you will have to repeat the process.
The same goes for various vaults that have to be removed. Keep your ship in the right spot to move them out of your way.
