What I have to buy in order to start playing the game?
Starlink has a so-called Starter pack which is bundled with every copy of the game. This set contains a mount attachment for your gamepad. Besides that, you will also find a pilot, a ship and a set of three weapons. The PS4 and XONE versions get a figurine of Mason Rana and his ship, Zenith. You also get three weapons: a Flamethrower, a Frost Barrage and a Shredder. The Nintendo Switch version gets figurines of Mason Rana and Fox McCloud, the ship called Arwing and two weapons: a Flamethrower and a Frost Barrage. You can expand your collection by purchasing, i.e. new ships or weapons.
How to build your own ship?
Your construction, which becomes a playable ship in the game, consists of a few elements that must be attached into the correct ports. The essential pieces are:
- Pilot - the unit that pilots your ship. Their appearance isn't the only thing that makes them unique - every pilot also has a special ability.
- Ship - the biggest element of your construction. It determines your durability, maneuverability and speed.
- Weapons - you can attach two weapons to every ship. Each of the weapons deals specific type of damage.
Combine all elements to start playing the game.
Is attaching a mount necessary?
The game requires you to have the mount attached to your gamepad at all times. If you detach it, the game will pause and ask you to reconnect the mount. The only exception is to have digital versions of the ships. The game will inform you that you can play without attaching the mount.
All elements attached to your mount remain unlocked in your Loadout inventory for seven days. This means that you can detach the mount from your controller and play the game without it.
What will happen when I detach elements from the controller during the game?
The game is constantly checking the connections between all the elements. When you detach one of them, the game will automatically pause and move you to the Loadout screen.
List of additional ships
Besides the Starter pack, you can also purchase additional ships and weapon packs. Ships are the biggest add-ons. Besides a new ship, they also include a pilot and a weapon. Below you can find the list of all available Starship add-ons.
