During your exploration, you can run into blue crates, for which you need a crowbar to open them. In such cases, use the help of Moira and open crates ([E]) while playing as her.

Each one of the crates has a certain number of locks, which is represented by the padlocks at the bottom. Your task is to open each one - if you fail to do so, you need to start over, but the forced locks remain open.

In itself, lockpicking is about keeping the dot within the orange area, which gets, progressively, smaller. At first, the area is big but, in the course of holding down the lockpicking button ([LMP]/[Z]) the area gets smaller and smaller. Listen to the sound of picking the lock (scratching) that helps you locate the appropriate spot - it resembles playing hot and cold. In case of any problems, progressively and steadily get the circle smaller, up until the moment in which the bar is filled up (its right tip glows in a bright color). As soon as this happen, you may be sure that you got the right spot. Each next lock is opened in a similar manner and after all of them are opened, the contents is yours.

In Barry's campaign, there also are chests, which only his companion - Natalie - can open (they are similar to a toy box). The way to open the locks is identical with those for Moira - keep the dot within the orange area.

It is always a good idea to open the chests that you find, because they mainly hold useful upgrades - ones that boost performance of individual weapons, or bags that carry more ammo or inventory.
