The Castle of Light | Mutant Year Zero Road to Eden World Atlas Mutant Year Zero Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 10 December 2018
The following page of the Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden world atlas provides a detailed description of Castle of Light. This is originally a safe area, but as a result of the decisions you make, it may become a battlefield later on. Our guide will tell you what mutants can attack your team in The Castle of Light and which treasures are waiting to be discovered there.
Basic information on The Castle of Light
Enemies - Lux (level 35), Sect Pyro (level 35), Marauder (level 35), Butcher (level 35), Hunter (level 35), Tank (level 35). Battles will be fought only if you have used the key you picked up in The Unenlightened to open the basement door.
Suggested experience level - 35.
Passage to other locations - Metal Fields (always accessible), The Unenlightened (always accessible), Grave of the Ancients (you have to free Hammon in The World Ender first).
Unique loot in the crate - Lucia Armour - to get this one, you have to complete a side quest for Luks (obtain the key from the adjacent location) or find the crate after winning the battle against Luks and his people. The armor adds 3 HP and armor points and gives immunity to electric damage.
Other treasures - Unique treasure. Artifact - Lux's Lights - can be acquired only if you use the key to open the basement door.
Skirmishes and unique places in The Castle of Light
The Castle of Light is a very unusual location, because by default you won't meet any opponents here. During the first visit to the castle, the party will meet a friendly Lux, who will ask the heroes to recover the key stolen by bandits. You have to go to the neighboring location - The Unenlightened.
Once you have obtained the key, you can return to The Castle of Light and enter the fenced complex.
The optional task received from Lux can be completed in two ways that are mutually exclusive. If you don't want any problems, you can find Lux on the first floor of the building and return the key to him. You will receive a prize from him, which is inside the chest next to him.
An alternative option is to reach the closed doors at the back of the base (shown in the picture). The party can use the key and open it and then go down to the basement with the servants. This variant is the only way to acquire the Lux's Lights artifact, but after leaving the basement the party will be attacked by Lux and his subordinates.
If you decide to raid the basement, the fight against Lux will automatically start shortly after the party leaves the building. It's worth setting up your characters quickly, because there's a chance that you will be able to activate the battle and take the initiative in the first round. Otherwise, it is the enemies who will be the first to make their moves.
Lux is by far the strongest and most problematic opponent in the bunch - he has the ability to control minds and can turn individual characters against the rest of the party (this works the same way as Magnus' Puppeteer ability). Protect yourself against this by placing your characters at a greater distance from each other. In addition, try to rely on the ability to stop or slow down a party member who has fallen victim to mind control so that he or she does not lose health points as a result of standard attacks.
Attack Lukas using more than one character in every turn. He has a passive ability which gives him a small chance to stop bullets in the mid-air and avoid taking damage. Attacking him with only one character will slow down the whole fight.
In addition to Lux, you must also watch out for other opponents. The most troublesome enemies are Pyro and Tank. In the case of Pyro, traditionally make sure that the team members do not stand close to each other, because more than one person can be set on fire. The Tank begins the battle at the opposite end of the base and this should allow you to weaken or kill other enemies before he arrives. As in other battles with these mutants, use the Puppeteer to take control of it.
After the battles are over, search the base. You can find a unique treasure in the same chest from which Lux would have given you the reward in the case of key delivery variant. In addition, search the bodies of enemies to get some small loot.
Return to The Castle of Light after making enough progress in the main storyline. You have to free Hammon, who is imprisoned in the nuclear bunker located in The World Ender. It's a south-eastern corner of the world map. After talking to him, you'll learn that it's necessary to go to the Forbidden City.
After you come back to the Castle of Light, find a passage to newly unlocked location - the Grave of the Ancients (it's bearly visible, you can see it in the picture above).
