Big Khan - new team member in Mutant Seed of Evil DLC Mutant Year Zero Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 31 July 2019
On this page of our guide to Mutant Year Zero we explain how to recruit Big Khan. He is a new playable member of the team that appears during your adventures in Seed of Evil.
Big Khan resides in location called Water Risers. This is the second new map to be visited in the Seed of Evil expansion. Meeting with Big Khan is difficult to miss. His camp is located near the starting point of the map. You can get there before you meet any opponents. Big Khan will join the team after a short conversation.
Big Khan has two very good weapons - a semi-automatic Rambino rifle and a Boomstick shotgun. Each of these weapons should be at the highest third level. This is an excellent "starter" set, although if you have completed the basic campaign then there is a chance that your original team has at least one better gun in the inventory.
Big Khan has skills that you already know from other characters, as well as completely new ones. Particularly interesting are two new Major Mutations.
The first one is Ground Pound. It is an area of effect skill - after selecting it from the action bar you can see its range of action (for example, check image 1 - enemies in range are illuminated in blue). It allows you to knock down enemies and destroy nearby shields (image 2). This is a very good skill in situations where Khan or the whole team is surrounded by opponents. However, it does not work very well in situations where you still control the course of the battle. Big Khan can lose the cover he was hiding in after using this skill. He can then become an easy target for enemies during their turn.
The second new major ability is Puke Flame. This skill is also useful in situations when opponents are standing close to each other, because its range is limited. Enemies will take fire damage as soon as you use this skill. Also, the "puked" area will burn for several rounds. Enemies usually react to this by trying to bypass the flames and not coming into contact with them. This is an additional application of this ability, because you can "block" an area and make attacks more difficult for enemies and monsters striving for melee combat.
Other active abilities of the Big Kahn are the following:
- Circuit Breaker - It can completely turn off the mechanical opponent for 2 rounds, This is at the expense of 25% less accuracy. This ability will allow you to attack defenseless robots or focus on other targets at the same time. Use this skill if you don't want to use too many EMP grenades.
- Sneak - This ability allows you to sneak between covers. This is an interesting proposition if you use Big Khan to play very carefully and/or to often surprise your opponents.
- Gunslinger - This skill allows you to shoot more than one opponent in the same turn, but at a cost of 25% less accuracy. This ability can be useful if you are fighting at a relatively short distance (for example, with shotguns) and if you're in combat with opponents that stand quite close to your character.
- Frog Legs - a skill useful in the efficient movement on the battlefield. This allows Big Khan to make a long jump. It's worth having it in missions where you fight over a large area or in locations where the team can be easily surrounded. Frog "Jump" will enable Khan to get out of the oppression.
Both of Big Khan passive skills are quite interesting. Silent Assassin doubles the chance of critical damage when attacking from cover. This is a great way to start a battle or resume it if Khan managed to hide again. Super Tendons make it easy to reach high places. This is done by relying on "normal" running or sprinting and can make it easier for you to set up in good attack areas.
Development points can be spent on bonuses to statistics. In the case of Big Khan, they allow you to extend your health bar (up to 3 points) and increase your chance of dealing critical damage (up to 20%). Both of these bonuses are very useful. At the beginning you can unlock the cheapest bonuses (they cost only 3 development points in total), but don't wait too long for the next one.
