Repeating chapters option - key information

Guardians of the Galaxy does have an option to repeat a chapter, but unfortunately, this option is governed by rules that differ from most games of the genre. Repeat Chapter won't help you unlock additional achievements or obtain missed collectibles.

The most important information is that replaying chapters does not overwrite your previous progress. So you cannot count on the fact that with this mode you will be able to reach missed collectibles or change some important choices permanently. This means that:

1. You should be careful when looking for secrets and making choices related to trophies to avoid missing anything. Here comes the ability to use 3 slots to save progress. Try to change the active slot regularly so that if you make a mistake, you can return to the previous moment of the game and play the last part of the mission again.
2. If you miss something irrevocably without the possibility of returning or changing your decision, it is best to finish the game and then start a new campaign in the New Game Plus mode. Your found collectibles are there, and you can focus on obtaining the remaining ones.

The inability to save progress in chapter repetition does not mean that the mode is completely useless. You can use this mode to unlock trophies associated with combat, especially since some of them are related to the types of opponents that appear only in selected chapters of the campaign.

This Is what We Do

How to unlock: Get all trophies in the game.

Trophy type: platinum

Comment: The platinum trophy is only available on the PS4 and PS5 versions.

Additional note - Theoretically, it is possible to get two platinum trophies if you have the PlayStation 4 version and PS4 and PS5 consoles. You can unlock the platinum trophy on PS4, use the option to move saves to PS5 (in the main menu of the game), and that way unlock the trophies for the PlayStation 5 version.

A Risky Gamble

How to unlock: Complete Chapter 1.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. You can complete the first mission at any difficulty level and choose any dialog options.

Busted

How to unlock: Complete Chapter 2.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. You can complete the second mission at any difficulty level and choose any dialog options.

The Cost of Freedom

How to unlock: Complete Chapter 3.

The Monster Queen

How to unlock: Complete Chapter 4.

How to unlock: Complete Chapter 15.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. You can complete the fifteenth mission at any difficulty level and choose any dialog options.

Magus

How to unlock: Complete Chapter 16.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. You can complete the sixteenth mission at any difficulty level and choose any dialog options.

Guardians of the Galaxy

How to unlock: Complete Marvel: Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Trophy type: gold

Comment: You will get this trophy for completing the game (chapters 1-16) for the first time. You can do it on any difficulty level (also the lowest). Despite many important choices in the game, the main campaign has one main ending, so you do not have to worry about them.

Note - The trophy is unlocked only after the first end credits. Do not turn off the game too early, as additional epilogue scenes will be displayed. You should unlock the achievement during watching the cut-scene with the Milano starship in space, i.e. before the second ("proper") end credits.

Llama Wrangler

How to unlock: Capture the Quarantine Zone monster.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. The encounter with the Llama, the "monster" from the Quarantine Zone, takes place in the Chapter 1.

Squid Kicker

How to unlock: Defeat the Dweller-in-Darkness.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. Dweller-in-Darkness is one of the main bosses of the campaign, which you will face in Chapter 4. You will find a walkthrough of this fight in the chapter Bosses our guide.

Family Intervention

How to unlock: Defeat the Blood Brothers.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. The Blood Brothers are the two bosses you'll face in Chapter 6 in the same fight. You will find a walkthrough of this fight in the chapter Bosses our guide.

Mama's Boy

How to unlock: Defeat the Meredith Quill delusion.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. This achievement is connected with one of the flashbacks with the main character's mother, and specifically with the final scene from the past in Chapter 8.

Titanslayer

How to unlock: Survive the manifestations of Thanos.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. You will encounter the Manifestations of Thanos in Chapter 11, and confrontation with them is just an ordinary fight. You don't have to worry - it's not a boss fight with Thanos.

Foom's Doom

How to unlock: Defeat Fin Fang Foom.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. Fin Fang Foom Dragon is one of the main campaign bosses you'll face in Chapter 13. You will find a walkthrough of this fight in the chapter Bosses our guide.

Faithless

How to unlock: Defeat Grand Unifier Raker.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. The Grand Unifier Raker is one of the main campaign bosses you'll face in Chapter 15. You will find a walkthrough of this fight in the chapter Bosses our guide.

Poetry Critic

How to unlock: Defeat The Magus.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. The Magus is the final boss of the game. However, the course of the battle is not a standard boss fight. The most important thing is to choose the correct dialog options, and we have listed them in our walkthrough of Chapter 16.

Self-Improvement

How to unlock: Purchase your first Star-Lord Ability.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: This is one of the trophies associated with character development -theoretically, you can not miss it since unlocking the first ability is one of the tutorials in Chapter 1.

While playing chapter 1, you will get XP for winning battles. After collecting enough of them, you will be promoted to a higher experience level and receive 1 ability point. You have to spend it on the first Star-Lord Ability indicated by the game.

Dynamic Team

How to unlock: Invest in at least one Special Ability for Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot have the first abilities from the start, and you don't have to buy them. This means that for each of these characters, you have to purchase a second (2 Ability Points required) or a third ability (3 Ability Points required).

You have to collect 8 Ability Points - advance at least 8 times to a higher level by fighting (except for the first promotion, when you have to purchase the Star-Lord Ability from the previous achievement).

Fully Loaded

How to unlock: Invest in all Special Abilities for all Companions.

Trophy type: bronze

Flash Freeze

How to unlock: Acquire the Ice Element for Star-Lord's guns.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. You will obtain the Ice Element during Chapter 3 of the campaign. You don't have to do any additional activities to get it.

Shock and Awe

How to unlock: Acquire the Lightning Element for Star-Lord's guns.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. You will obtain the Lightning Element during Chapter 7 of the campaign. You don't have to do any additional activities to get it.

Fan Friction

How to unlock: Acquire the Wind Element for Star-Lord's guns.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. You will obtain the Wind Element during Chapter 10 of the campaign. You don't have to do any additional activities to get it.

Lava Launcher

How to unlock: Acquire the Plasma Element for Star-Lord's guns.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: You will unlock this trophy automatically as you progress through the game. You will obtain the Plasma Element during Chapter 13 of the campaign. You don't have to do any additional activities to get it.

Pick Me Up

How to unlock: Revive a fallen team member.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: A team member can be knocked down in any battle, but the greatest chance of this occurring occurs during fights with bosses and mini-bosses. A special icon will appear above the Guardian that needs help.

Reviving a fallen companion is simple - you have to run up to them and hold Triangle/Y to restore their health and allow them to resume fighting.

Stagger Swagger

How to unlock: Stagger 25 enemies.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: There is a very small chance that you miss this achievement during completing the game, as many Guardians' abilities can stagger the opponents.

For the record, a stagger bar is placed under a health bar (we marked an example in the picture above). It can be easily filled using some abilities (e.g. the first one of Drax) or using an element being a weakness of a given opponent.

No Way, Nova Corps

How to unlock: Interrupt a Nova Centurion with Gamora's Call to Action.

Trophy type: bronze

Slakebuster

How to unlock: Interrupt a Slakebeast with Drax's Call to Action.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: We have described this achievement in more detail on a separate page in our trophy guide.

Groot Canal

How to unlock: Interrupt a Charger with Groot's Call to Action.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: We have described this achievement in more detail on a separate page in our trophy guide.

Drax the Dismemberer

How to unlock: Dismember an Inquisitor with Drax's Call to Action.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: We have described this achievement in more detail on a separate page in our trophy guide.

Unstoppable Force

How to unlock: Attain the maximum possible Momentum 10 times.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: This trophy is related to Momentum mechanics. The Momentum bar appears on the screen during fights (we marked it in the picture). To progress, you must:

1. Use a variety of attacks during battles to fill the bar - use blaster attacks, elemental attacks, different abilities of team members, environmental objects, or hand-to-hand combat options.
2. Avoid long pauses between successive attacks - extended inactivity during fights will start exhausting the bar.

You should be able to meet the requirements of this trophy already in one of the initial chapters. Filling 100% of the Momentum bar is not difficult and you will probably do this a dozen times throughout the campaign.

The Crowd Goes Wild

How to unlock: Execute a Flair Attack 10 times.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: A Flair Attack is a combo action involving 2 or more Guardians. You can perform it only on heavily weakened opponents, so try to:

1. fill their stagger bars,
2. take out most of their health points, but don't kill them prematurely.

When the opponent is weakened, the information about pressing triangle and circle simultaneously (on PS4 and PS5) or Y and B (on Xbox consoles) will be displayed. An example of such a situation is shown in the picture above. You have to react quickly - run up to the enemy and press the buttons before they regain strength. Repeat this pattern 9 more times.

Set 'em Up, Knock' em Down

How to unlock: Defeat 15 Staggered enemies with a Charged Shot.

Bullet Hell

How to unlock: Defeat 15 enemies with Star-Lord's Fan the Hammer ability.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: This is one of the trophies associated with using the specific abilities of heroes. In this case, Star-Lord's ability, Fan the Hammer. First, you need to purchase it by spending 2 Ability points.

The Fan the Hammer ability can be selected from the ability menu. You have to hold L1/LB, press L3 (left analog knob) to display Star-Lord abilities, and then press Triangle/Y.

The hero will start a massive fire while standing still. We advise you to use this ability in battles with large groups of opponents to defeat. There is a chance that every time you use it, you will kill several enemies and unlock the achievement after several battles (you don't need to eliminate 15 opponents in one time).

Adding Injury to Insult

How to unlock: Defeat 10 enemies affected by Drax's Wrath of Katath ability.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: This is one of the trophies associated with using the specific abilities of heroes. In this case, Drax's ability, Wrath of Katath. This is a mega ability that unlocks as you progress through Chapter 12.

The Wrath of Katath ability can be selected from the ability menu. You have to hold L1/LB, press Circle/B to display Drax's abilities, and then press Square/X.

Because you will unlock the mega ability at a fairly late stage of the campaign, we advise you to activate it in each larger fight. Its effect is staggering the opponents, marked with a red skull. Attack them with the whole team and use your best abilities to eliminate them before the Drax's ability effect wears off.

Trained to Perfection

How to unlock: Defeat 10 enemies with Gamora's Executioner ability.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: This is one of the trophies associated with using the specific abilities of heroes. In this case, Gamora's ability, Executioner. This is a mega ability that unlocks as you progress through Chapter 12.

The Executioner ability can be selected from the ability menu. You have to hold L1/LB, press Triangle/ Y to display Gamora's abilities, and then press X/A.

Because you will unlock the mega ability at a fairly late stage of the campaign, we advise you to activate it in each larger fight. Its deal high damage to a single opponent. You do not have to do anything more but to use Gamora's ability on the enemies and defeat them with it.

Boom Show

How to unlock: Defeat 20 enemies with Rocket's Five Barrel Barrage.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: This is one of the trophies associated with using the specific abilities of heroes. In this case, Rocket's ability, Five Barrel Barrage. This is a mega ability that unlocks as you progress through Chapter 11.

The Five Barrel Barrage ability can be selected from the ability menu. You have to hold L1/LB, press X/A to display Rocket's abilities, and then press Triangle/Y.

Because you will unlock the mega ability at a fairly late stage of the campaign, we advise you to activate it in each larger fight. This ability lets Rocket burst massive damage. You have the best chance of successful kills when you're fighting a group of standard opponents. You can, of course, weaken them earlier with other attacks.

Herbal Remedy

How to unlock: Revive or Heal Companions 10 times with Groot's Gift of the Florae.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: This is one of the trophies associated with using the specific abilities of heroes. In this case, Groot's ability, Gift of the Florae. This is a mega ability that unlocks as you progress through Chapter 14.

The Gift of the Florae ability can be selected from the ability menu. You have to hold L1/LB, press Square/X to display Groot's abilities, and then press X/A.

Because you will unlock the mega ability at a fairly late stage of the campaign, we advise you to activate it in each larger fight. It is best to activate it in the latter part of the fight so that the Guardians take some damage earlier.

The facilitation is that the game counts the healing of each team member separately. Thus you don't need to activate the mega ability in 10 different battles - a single use of it may revive or heal, for example, 3 or 4 Guardians.

Altitude Adjustment

How to unlock: Defeat 20 enemies with Star-Lord's Eye of the Hurricane.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: This is one of the trophies associated with using the specific abilities of heroes. In this case, Star-Lord's ability, Eye of the Hurricane. First, you need to purchase it by spending 3 Ability points.

The Eye of the Hurricane ability can be selected from the ability menu. You have to hold L1/LB, press L3 (left analog knob) to display Star-Lord abilities, and then press Circle/B.

Look for opportunities to attack groups of weak opponents with it. Run up to them and use the ability, which is an area attack. You can weaken your opponents earlier with other attacks or play at a low difficulty level to increase your chances that the Eye of the Hurricane will be enough to defeat the enemies.

Killer Friendship

How to unlock: Execute an Auto-Combo with Gamora.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: This is one of the trophies associated with defeating opponents in hand-to-hand combat. Attack weak enemies, pressing the attack button several times to perform a combo. If Gamora is near Star-Lord, there is a chance that she will join the main character and also strike the enemy. Unfortunately, this action is random, but you should not wait long to get the achievement.

Katathian Handshake

How to unlock: Execute an Auto-Combo with Drax.

How to unlock: Execute an Auto-Combo with Groot.

If Groot is near Star-Lord, there is a chance that he will join the main character and also strike the enemy. Thoughtful Captain

How to unlock: Find half of the Guardian Collectibles.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: We have listed the locations of secrets in the chapter Secrets and collectibles of our guide.

The game does require you to find 100% of all the secrets, but pay attention to the requirements of the achievements described below: Managerial Skills and Fashion Passion - you need to get all of the given types of collectibles.

Managerial Skills

How to unlock: Find all of the Guardian Collectibles for one Guardian.

Trophy type: silver

Comment: This achievement is related to The Guardian Collectibles, one of the categories of secrets in the game. Each Guardian Collectible is connected with one of the Guardians. You'll unlock the achievement when you find the last item associated with that companion. Use the list in the chapter Secrets and collectibles of our guide, and you will not miss any item.

Like a Glove!

How to unlock: Find and equip one Outfit.

Trophy type: bronze

Comment: This is one of the achievements associated with outfits, one of the collectibles categories in the game. Outfits can be found in chests in the game world, and after obtaining such an item, you have to put it on. To do this, go to the Guardians tab in the pause menu, and when the team member is highlighted, press Triangle/Y to open a window with a list of outfits. Select a newly acquired skin and set it as active (you do not have to use it during the game, you can immediately return to your favorite one).

Fashion Passion

How to unlock: Find and equip all Outfits.

Trophy type: silver

Comment: This is a more difficult version of the above-described trophy, Like a Glove!. In this case, you have to find all the outfits hidden in the game world.

You can not miss any outfit because the next chance to find it will appear only in the New Game Plus mode. You can find a list of items in this category in the chapter about secretes in our guide. We also show them all in the subsection Outfits.

Lore Hoarder

How to unlock: Collect 65 % of all Galactic Compendium entries of each category.

Trophy type: silver

Comment: This is a trophy associated with finding secrets in the game world. You can miss as much as 35%secrets, so the margin of error is huge, and by following our find guide, you should get the achievement long before you finish the game.

Galactic Frugality

How to unlock: Pay your Nova Corps fine.

Trophy type: bronze

Eat It, Rodent

How to unlock: Win the bet against Rocket.
