This page of the guide to Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy features a detailed description of all the choices in Chapter 6 - Between a Rock and a Hard Place. You will find out when you will have to make the key decisions in chapter six, as well as what are their long-term consequences.
For obvious reasons, the following description of the choices in Chapter 6 contains spoilers. Nevertheless, we tried to limit the details and focus on the choices themselves.
Correct or unsuccessful singing of a song with Lipless
The first scene in Chapter 6 is not exactly a choice, but rather an attempt to perfectly play out the meeting in the hope of receiving a reward for it.
In the initial part of Chapter 6 you will be heading towards the Cosmo security tower. This is an area with a large number of neutral NPCs. You will meet Mantis along the way, and shortly after, you'll come across a bar. If you go to one of the windows, you will notice that Groot and Rocket are inside.
Visiting the bar is optional and you might as well skip this step, although we still recommend to do it anyway.
Once you're inside, a cut-scene will play, during which Lipless will appearand start pointing his gun at the main character.
Lipless will insist that he knows Star-Lord. There are three options you can choose from during this conversation.
The first choice is not important because the meeting will continue regardless of whether you start pretending or openly say that you do not know each other.
The second choice is a fragment of a song - choose the left dialogue option Like a Hurricane. Those are the right lyrics for the song.
The third choice is another song fragment - this time choose the right dialog option Through the Rain.
To complete this stage successfully, you need to select the correct song lyrics twice before the time runs out. Lipless will give you a gift - a ticket to the Collector's Emporium. You can also talk to the bartender and get a free drink from him.
If you fail the song, you won't get the free ticket to Collector's Emporium and you'll have to buy it on your own. Fortunately, failing the song does not have any long-term negative consequences.
The Collector's Emporium and other market locations, are described in the next subsection.
Spend or keep credits in the marketplace
As you progress through Chapter 6, you'll reach the marketplace. You can focus only on the main goal of the mission and get to Cosmo, or spend your credits (Galactic units) at various stalls and gambling sites.
Your current credit status is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen:
- If in Chapter 2 you hid the llama, then your credit amount should stay above 7000.
- If in Chapter 2 you hid Rocket's equipment, then your credit amount should stay above 8000.
You will need 7000 or 8000 credits in Chapter 9 to pay a penalty. Not having enough credits won't make you fail the entire campaign, but you'll miss out on the chance to unlock one of the game's trophies.
Here is a list of places where you can spend your credits:
Junk dealer - he's got the Nova Tracker disabler for sale, which costs 1500 credits.
It is worth knowing in advance that the tracker disabler is completely useless. If you purchased this item, you will be able to show it to Rocket in Chapter 9. Rocket will laugh at Star-Lord for wasting credits on useless junk.
Ticket seller - he can sell you a lottery ticket which costs 1000 credits. This is another way to waste money - you won't win anything.
Collector's Emporium - if you complete the scene with Lipless correctly, you can show your ticket and enter for free. Otherwise, you have to buy a ticket for 5000 credits.
The emporium is a museum with various valuable artifacts, all of which have their own descriptions. At the very end of the visit you can buy one of the souvenirs - choose the Collector's Emporium doll for 2000 credits. It's a Guardian Collectible - one of the in-game secrets. Once back on the Milano, you can find the doll in Gamora's cabin and start a conversation about her doll collecting hobby. Gamora will also be grateful for the gift.
Hawker - he offers the three cups game. The first time you can easily win 1000 credits, but if you play again and correctly guess the cup you will be cheated and lose 1500 credits.
Slots - you can play for 500 credits. Though it will seem that you won, you will once again lose money, because the machine will break and you won't get the main prize.
Food vendor offers many types of food, which you can buy for 500 credits a piece. Unfortunately, this has no effect on the course of the game and you will not receive any stat bonuses.
Vending machine with stuffed animals allows you to buy one of them for 750 credits. You will draw one out of three available stuffed animals. Each of them is treated as a collectible - entry in the Galactic Compendium. However, there is no requirement to get all the stuffed animals (during separate playthroughs) to unlock the platinum trophy.
