Call Cosmo from the cockpit

The chapter begins onboard the Milano - don't forget about new optional conversations related to the Guardian collectibles obtained in previous missions.

If you let Gamora go after Raker in Chapter 8 she'll appear on the ship once again, rejoining the team. You'll also learn that she managed to cut off one of Raker's limbs.

After you take care of all your business head to the captain's bridge and sit down in the chair.

Defeat Captain Glory and the Lethal Legion

Your meeting with Cosmo will be interrupted by Captain Glory, the leader of the Lethal Legion. You'll have to play through a space battle, controlling the Milano.

Additional information - If in Chapter 2 you decided to hide Rocket's equipment when you learned about the inspection by the Nova Corps, it won't be taken from the Guardians of the Galaxy and can be used to strengthen the Milano. It will increase your power a little, but even without it, winning all the battles in space shouldn't be very difficult.

In the first part of the space battle you have to deal with a group of regular ships controlled by the boss's subordinates. You can attack them in any order - pay attention to the arrows located around the crosshair, which indicate their location.

When fighting, use the dodge to the sideways to avoid being hit. You can also do a 180-degree turn-around, but it's only useful if you've got an enemy ship right behind you. Enemy machines are very weak and each of them will explode after a short fire.

The main part of the boss fight starts after you destroy all the smaller ships. Captain Glory is piloting a much larger spacecraft, and your objective is to destroy all points marked on the boss' ship.

Flying towards Captain Glory, you have to watch out for the red laser attacks. To avoid being hit, dodge to the sides, but wait with that until the last moment - try to do it at the right time and not allow the boss to correct the trajectory of the laser.

Captain Glory can also shoot purple lasers. They inflict minor damage, but you can be hit by them several times in a row. In this case, the solution is also to dodge to the left or right.

You can destroy the targets marked by the game in any order, while you have to be aware that the boss, after each of your successful actions, teleports to another location and leaves behind a minefield. You don't have to destroy the mines and you can just quickly turn the other way to avoid colliding with them. Take a look at the arrow in the crosshairs to quickly locate Captain Glory's ship and fly towards it.

Destroying all targets will lead to Captain Glory's defeat, and you will advance to the next part of the chapter.

New Xandar - using Milano's onboard computer

The action will now move to New Xandar, Nova Corps' headquarters. Star-Lord will use the onboard computer to start a call:

1. Choose the Standard Galactic language.
2. Select the Criminal Offenses category. You can check other categories too, but it's fully optional.
3. Select the Past Crimes category. Once again, checking other categories is optional.
4. Select the Pay a Fine option.

The game won't let you transfer credits just yet - you'll have to go through another sequence beforehand.

Important choice: meeting the Worldmind

You'll "meet" the Xandarian Worldmind. During this scene you should be very careful with your words.

1. When making the first choice, select the right dialog option - Share Intel.
2. During the second choice, choose the left dialog option - Question the Strategy.
3. When faced with the third choice, select the right dialog option - Put in Perspective.

By correctly directing the conversation, you'll convince the Worldmind that the course of events can still be changed, allying with it. If you succeed, the Worldmind will help you defeat a large group of enemies in Chapter 14. If you fail the conversation you won't receive any help, forcing you to play through that battle yourself.

Important choice: paying the fine imposed by the Nova Corps

Only now do you have an opportunity of paying off the fine imposed by the Nova Corps in Chapter 2. As a reminder, the fine is:

1. 7,000 credits if Rocket's equipment was found during the search of the ship (you hid the llama),
2. 8,000 credits if a llama was found during the search of the ship (you hid Rocket's equipment).

You have 3 possible options:

1. You have enough credits and you want to pay - This is the recommended option, because it unlocks the Galactic frugality trophy required to obtain the platinum trophy. Select the option to Confirm Payment.
2. If you have enough credits, but don't want to pay, select the Cancel Payment option.
3. You do not have enough credits and cannot pay - this can happen if you spent too much money in chapter 6 and have less than 7,000 or 8,000 credits at the moment. You can't pay the fine even if you want to.

Relax in your quarters

You will still be able to progress even if you don't pay the fine. Regardless of what you chose, the remaining events of Chapter 9 are always the same.

After the cut-scenes go to Star-Lord's cabin and push the llama off the bed to sit on it. Wait for the protagonist to fall asleep.

In the next scene leave the cabin and head towards the Milano exit. After some more cutscenes you must run away from a giant vortex. You should know that it won't stop chasing you. Sooner or later you'll have to stop and shoot it with your blasters. After a while you'll wake up, advancing to Chapter 10.
