This page of the LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga guide contains information about the chronology of the levels available in the game. You'll learn whether you have to follow the episodes' order or if you can play them however you want.
Episodes 1-9
LEGO Skywalker Saga features a lot of content and covers all 9 Episodes, that is, three film trilogies. You can participate in the events of all nine films while playing as all of your favourite characters.
There are 45 levels to complete in the game - 5 for each episode. Between the main story quests there are also smaller main objectives to fulfill. The game contains a ton of optional activities - you can explore huge sandbox maps containing plenty of side missions and challenges. There are also a lot of collectibles in the game, found during the story quests and while exploring.
Choosing the episode
At the beginning of the game, three episodes out of nine are available. These are:
- Part 1 - The Phantom Menace, the beginning of the prequel trilogy
- Part 4 - A New Hope, the beginning of the original trilogy
- Part 7 - The Force Awakens, the beginning of the sequel trilogy
You can choose your favourite trilogy first, or the one you want to play the most. You don't necessarily have to beat the game chronologically, starting with episode 1 and finishing with episode 9. You can choose the order yourself.
The only limitation is that the later episodes of a given trilogy are unaccessible until you finish the previous one.
This means you can't start with Episode 2 or 5. For example, to unlock Episode 2 (Attack of the Clones), you must first finish Episode 1 (The Phantom Menace).
Changing the played episode
You don't have to play the episode from beginning to end in one go. If you lose interest or want to follow a different plot you can simply change the episode. The menu contains an Episodes tab, from which you can select the Episode you're interested in.
Free Play
The game also features the Galaxy Free Play mode. It lets you travel around the world map, explore the sandbox areas and discovering their unique content. There is one limitation here - you can only travel to the planets you've already discovered during the story mode. The game doesn't immediately open the entire map to you.
