On this page of the LEGO Skywalker Saga guide, you can find descriptions of two boss battles with Darth Vader, in which you play as Luke Skywalker. These are specifically the fights from the Cave of Evil side mission and the final fifth story mission of Episode 5, Revelations. You will learn what attacks Darth Vader has, how to weaken him and how to defeat the boss twice.
First duel with Darth Vader - Cave of Evil
Darth Vader appears as a boss twice during Episode 5, but the first confrontation with him is not a full-fledged encounter - you should treat it as a fight with a mini-boss. The enemy will appear during the Cave of Evil quest, which precedes the Hibernation Station story mission.
Vader is a hallucination that Luke Skywalker experiences - you have to confront him.
Fortunately, the fight with Vader is not very complicated. Throw the lightsaber (RT, R2 or LMB) to deal him damage and keep the opponent at bay.
While attacking Vader, watch out for his stronger attacks, symbolized by red lines and circles. Jump away from places where Vader plans to attack.
At the end, your swords will clash - you have to mash (press quickly) the button visible on the screen. You only need to deplete Darth Vader's single health bar, so the fight will end pretty quickly.
Second duel with Darth Vader - Revelations
A full boss battle with Vader takes place in the Revelations! stage. This is the last story mission of Episode V.
You fight as Luke Skywalker (R2-D2 will only help with some puzzles).
Start the first of many lightsaber clinch sequences - you have to quickly press (mash) the indicated button. Vader's remaining attacks set is fairly standard:
- Dodge the red lines and circles that signal the boss's strong attacks.
- If Darth Vader uses the Force grip, keep tilting the analog stick to the sides or left/right on d-pad to break free.
The best way to weaken the boss is to throw the lightsaber (note - in the first phase of the fight, there may be an aiming bug, meaning you would have to use the regular attacks).
You can also weaken your opponent by throwing nearby items with the Force (F on PC, Traingle on PS, Y on Xbox). Doing this enough times will unlock one of the mission challenges.
After you deplete Darth Vader's first health bar (out of three), switch to R2-D2 and help the companion. It is very simple - you only need to locate the blue terminal and complete the mini-game with rings.
There will be another lightsaber clinch sequence, but this will not be the second part of the duel.
In the new location, Darth Vader will use the middle passage to escape - the passage will be destroyed. You have to choose one of the other two:
- You can unlock the left passage by sending R2-D2 to the blue terminal. You will also have to find the power source in the left tunnel and move it to the side slot (picture 1).
- The passage on the right can be unlocked by using the lightsaber to cut a hole in the wall presented in picture 2. This will reveal a button. During the journey through the tunnel, you can control the droid to grab the grappling points.
Both paths will lead you to a blocked passage. You have to place the heroes as shown in the picture above:
- Luke has to stand on the button.
- R2-D2 must pull itself to the top lever.
In the next location, Luke will sense the presence of Darth Vader. You don't need to thoroughly explore the entire area - you can go right immediately.
When Darth Vader appears, complete the lightsabers clinch sequence and start the second phase of the boss fight. It is almost identical to the first one - you have to weaken Vader while avoiding his unique attacks. Vader can try to throw items with the Force - you can dodge or grab these objects in flight.
After the window is destroyed, keep pressing the button shown on the screen to not get sucked in by the air.
You will land on metal balconies.. You should play as Luke now. The picture above shows the place where you have to perform a Wall Run and then press the right button. This will allow R2-D2 to join Luke after a few jumps.
In the next section, you have to switch over to R2-D2. Grab the grappling point shown in the picture above to lower the shelf.
You will reach a corridor with 4 side rooms. Exploring all of them is optional, although you can find, e.g. ugnaughty related to the Ugnaught-y challenge.
Vader is hiding in the second room on the right.
You have to be cautious during the final part of the chapter - the QTE sequence will change. You have to press specific buttons quickly - only once, but you have to make it on time. If you press the wrong button or don't press the button fast enough, you will not fail the entire mission - you will only receive a single damage.
Time for the last, third phase of the fight with Vader. He will not surprise you with new mechanics, although, due to the limited space, it may be more difficult to dodge attacks. Deplete the boss's of health bar to trigger a cut-scene ending the stage.
