Immortals Fenyx Rising: Medusa the Imperoius boss - how to defeat? Immortals Fenyx Rising guide, walkthrough
Last update: 26 February 2021
On this page of our Immortals Fenyx Rising guide, you will learn how to defeat the boss from the Judgement Day quest, namely Medusa the Imperious. Medusa's boss fight consists of 4 phases, each of them granting her a new ability.
The fight with Medusa is somewhat unusual - you will find her easy to beat initially, but as you complete each stage, she will keep reappearing and gaining in strength.
Phase 1
Initially, Medusa will have three moves at her disposal. Her first and most frequently used ability is shooting magical projectiles at you. She launches numerous missiles that appear one after another, but you should find these easy to dodge or parry. Parrying is the better choice as it is difficult to get close to Medusa due to her ability to teleport.
Her second attack is to conjure up a powerful, green projectile which deals a significant amount of damage. You should wait until she launches the missile. Then, you will need to parry it to deflect the bullet right at her, causing serious damage to Medusa's HP and stamina.
Her third ability serves a defensive purpose - Medusa will cover herself with a layer of stone, becoming immune to attack damage. To counter the stone skin, wait for her to teleport or deflect the green spherical projectile at her. You will spend most of the fight countering the attacks she launches at you. When you manage to stun her, run up to her and unleash your strongest attacks to defeat her.
Phase 2
The subsequent phases won't be significantly different from the first one. The fight follows a similar pattern. The only difference is that Medusa uses a new move which you will be unable to parry. She gains the ability to summon two giant lasers that move in a single line. This attack deals a lot of damage, but it's easy to tell when Medusa is about to launch it, as she will begin to glow red. When you notice her winding up the move, step away from her and get ready to dodge it. Continue using the strategies from the first phase of the fight, but don't forget about her new ability.
Phase 3
With this next phase comes yet another ability in the form of a purple laser, which stains the ground with residue that deals damage over time and slows you down. Being hit by the laser itself will also apply the same effects. She will launch it three times in a row. This attack cannot be parried, so be prepared to dodge it. The decreased movement speed won't help you during the fight, either. Medusa will glow red and cover her face with her hands before launching the attack, making it easy to predict.
Final phase
The final battle with Medusa combines all the phases into one. The boss will be able to choose from all of her previous abilities. Additionally, she will cover herself in stone more frequently, thus becoming impervious to your attacks. You need to deflect the green missiles back at her to destroy her stone skin all the while being wary of her other attacks. Avoid having your movement speed decreased when you're about to stun her, as it will significantly decrease your attack speed, as well.
