Immortals: Fenyx Rising Description
Immortals: Fenyx Rising is a fairytale-like action game, set in ancient Greece full of mythological creatures and famous Greek gods. It was developed by the devs of Assassin's Creed Odyssey. It was originally titled Gods & Monsters, but the title was changed due to legal issues.
Plot
The main character of the game is Fenyx, a forgotten hero or heroine (depending on our choice - the character editor offers a wide range of appearance features to personalize the protagonist). The protagonist undertakes the difficult task of saving the Greek gods by retrieving their essence, which they need to rule the world. They lost it as a result of the actions of Typhon, the fiercest of the titans, hatched from eggs given to Gaia by Tartarus. Typhon has hated the gods ever since his fellows were locked away by them in the Underworld and he has been trying to take over the world ever since. To stop him, we travel to the Golden Isle, where we meet a whole host of characters from Greek mythology in our quest to restore the full power of the gods. At the same time, Fenyx attempts to learn about his forgotten past.
The narrative in Immortals: Fenyx Rising is very humorous and adapted to younger audiences as well. Prometheus is in charge of the story, supported from time to time by Zeus, who takes a keen interest in Fenyx's mission.
Gameplay
The game takes place in a fantastic world of ancient Greece, full of beautiful buildings and breathtaking views, observed from a third-person perspective. In many ways the game resembles The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We also have a large, open world at our disposal, which we can traverse on foot (both horizontally and vertically, climbing rocks and other hills), on mounts or on wings acting as a glider. While exploring the available terrain we come across numerous finds, new equipment, opponents as well as logic and arcade puzzles.
The combat in Immortals: Fenyx Rising is fast and dynamic, and duels take place both on land and in the air, depending on the location of our opponent's weak point. For example, the cyclops' vulnerable point is his eye. However, we have to be careful, because each of the special activities consumes limited stamina of the heroine. Of course, the fight is influenced by the weapon we wield - depending on the preferred style, we can bet on the speed of spears, the destructive power of two-handed weapons or one-handed attacks, which are an intermediate solution. Fans of long-range weapons will also find something for themselves: Fenyx is great with bows, with which he can attack enemies from a distance. Some of the challenges we'll face in Tartarus, where we go through special rifts scattered around the game world.
Apart from the main tasks, we can find many side quests in the game. For completing them we are properly rewarded by crafting materials, allowing us to create potions and improve our armor. Additionally, during the game we get special coins from Charon and Zeus' lightning bolts, which allow to improve Fenyx's skills.
Graphically, the game is a combination of The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles. It is saturated with colors and has a cartoon style, in which everything seems more pleasing to the eye.
