This page of the guide to Biomutant contains a detailed walkthrough of the main story quest Whiz.
The hatch of the Octopod is blocked and Whiz cannot leave the Surge Station, so you must help him and get the necessary tools. Chu-Chu should provide you with what you need. Once the Octopod is seaworthy, make sure it's equipped with proper weapons - explosives and distractions will be equally useful. Boom left some fireflies, and Gill will know where to find distracting Guppos.

Visit Whiz
Whiz will tell you about his invention, the Octopod, to help you fight the Murk Puff. Unfortunately, the hatch to the machine is jammed, and Whiz will ask you to get the right tool for him.
Look for Mekafingro at Mekastadium
The main door will be locked and you will not be able to barge through. Go to the room shown in the picture above and go up to the upper level, then down the stairs to the first floor.
To open the door, you must supply power to the door by arranging simple rotating puzzles. Remember to connect the individual switches by color - orange to orange and white to white.
Activating the Mekafingro requires arranging another quite simple rotation puzzle - pay attention to the two small knobs that must match the color on the left side of the key. After activating the Mekafingro, return to Whiz.
Talk to Chu-Chu about Grease-Sprinkler
Unfortunately, Whiz didn't manage to open the hatch to the Octopod, and this time he'll ask you to visit Chu-Chu at End-of-the-Line to find out how to get a Grease-Sprinkler. Whiz's friend will help you if you find a Wingnut for him.
Head to the Chugtunnel, jump down to the very bottom of the ruins and deal with some enemies.
Take the staircase to the upper floor, defeat a few enemies, and then walk between the blades of the fan to the other part of this location.
When you reach the room with yellow spots on the wall, jump up and grab the edge, then jump to the upper floor.
Walk up to the locomotive and solve a simple rotation puzzle to get the Wingnut. Then solve the second puzzle, open the door, and go back to Chu-Chu.
In return, Chu-Chu will let you take the Grease-Sprinkler, which you will find in a box next to his vehicle. Take it and return to Whiz.
Find a Pyrostick at the Bangplant
The main warehouse door will be locked, so you must find a way to get to the other side. Head to the room with the rocket, take out the enemy that protects it, and then interact with the rocket to blow up the warehouse door.
Catching fireflies is unfortunately not that easy. Chasing the fireworks is not worth it - instead, stand still and wait for the firefly to fly right past you, and press the interaction key. Return to Whiz after collecting three fireflies.
Ask Gill about Guppos
Guppies are necessary to distract Murk Puff, and Gill knows how to get them. Go to the place indicated on the map to talk to him, and you will learn that you need to find the Guppo Grotto.
Go to the location marked on the world map, then take the elevator down to the lower level and assemble a rotation puzzle to lower the water level in the tank.
Go down to the bottom of the tank and wait for the guppo to jump up, and then catch it in the net. After catching 5 fish, break the wall to get out of the tank and return to Whiz.
