Biomutant: Bio Points, Psi Points - how to get them? Biomutant guide, walkthrough
Last update: 27 May 2021
On this page of the Biomutant game guide, you will learn how to acquire Bio Points and Psi Points, which are necessary to unlock new mutations. Accumulating both types of points helps you in developing your character and unlocking new special powers.
Bio Points - acquiring
You can mainly earn Bio Points (also called Bioblobs) by defeating certain monsters. They can be earned automatically upon defeating opponents who had them.
Another way to earn Bio Points is to find special green Bioblob Containers - an example is shown in the picture. Ransacking each such container will reward you with 1 Bio point.
Bio Points - spending
You can use your Bio Points to unlock special powers called Biogenetics. Each item on the list is a unique active ability - you can assign them to the pad buttons (X, Square, Triangle, Circle on PS4 and PS5) and then select them when you press the L2 button / left trigger. Ki Energy is necessary to use these special powers.
The first Bio powers on the list are cheap, i.e. they only require a small number of Bio points. However, each successive item on the list will require more and more points. We recommend unlocking one or two Bio powers to start with, and then to start accumulating points to unlock the stronger and more useful Biogenes further down the list.
Alternatively, you can spend your Bio Points on increasing your Resistances. You have to choose one of the 4 available resistances, which will then increase by 10% each time you spend Bio points. The earliest upgrades require only 1 Bio point (separately for each resistance), but the points needed for subsequent upgrades will increase. Unfortunately, becoming 100% resistant to a given element won't be an easy task. Fortunately, certain pieces of equipment can help - we've covered this topic in more detail on the Statuses and elemental resistances page.
Psi Points - acquiring
The main way to earn Psi Points is by finding Psi Shrines - an example is shown in the attached picture. They appear quite frequently in the game world. Interacting with each shrine will reward you with 1 point.
You can also earn points by interacting with the captives you encounter. In particular, we mean the Helpless Souls imprisoned in cages - you can find them in certain locations that have lists of tasks appearing on the screen. You will receive a Psi Point regardless of the outcome of the conversation with the NPC.
Psi Points - spending
You can spend the Psi Points you acquired to unlock special abilities known as Psi-Powers. Each item on the list is a unique active ability - you can assign them to the pad buttons (X, Square, Triangle, Circle on PS4 and PS5) and then select them when you press the L2 button / left trigger. Ki Energy is necessary to use these special powers.
The first powers on the list are cheap, that is, they require spending a small number of Psi Points. However, each successive item on the list will require more and more points. We recommend unlocking one or two Psi powers to start with, and then to start accumulating points in order to unlock stronger and more useful Psi powers further down the list.
There is unfortunately one major downside associated with spending Psi Points - some Psi powers are only available to characters with the corresponding aura (which is the equivalent of karma in other RPGs). You may be required to have a certain amount of Light Aura or Dark Aura points. In the example in our image, the highlighted Psi power requires 20 points of Dark Aura.
We discuss this topic in more detail on the Aura and Psi powers page. If you have not yet accumulated the required number of positive/negative aura points, then you can hold off on spending your Psi Points and continue accumulating them as there is no risk of the points being lost.
