Biomutant: Healing - how to restore health? Biomutant guide, walkthrough
Last update: 27 May 2021
On this page of the guide to Biomutant, you will learn how to heal the main character and regain lost health points. This information can be very important if you don't want your character to die frequently. You will also learn how to increase your health bar in order to have more health points at your disposal.
Acquiring medicine
The most important information is that the character's health can regenerate on its own between fights. You must be aware, however, that moving away from the battlefield before defeating your enemies means that their health bars will also regenerate, and be full when you approach them again. You should always aim to defeat the attacked enemy before you leave a location.
In Biomutant you need to use medicines to quickly heal the protagonist. You can obtain them in two main ways. The first, more obvious method is to look around for loot. You should especially look for bags with a cross sign, although you can also find medicine in other places.
The second method is to buy the medicine from merchants. This is not recommended unless you play on a high difficulty level. On the default normal difficulty level, you should always have plenty of medicine on hand, and you shouldn't run out of all your supplies.
Medicines come in different varieties and you can read their properties when you first find them, or later in the inventory window. Medicines are described with the health points regeneration strength and the time they work. For healing minor wounds, smaller first aid kits or injections will suffice. Save the more powerful meds for boss fights, where you can easily find yourself on the brink of death.
Healing the protagonist
The most convenient way to organize your medical supplies is in the Consumables drop-down menu , which is displayed when you hold down the up button on the pad. You can add new medicines to the list from the inventory by adding them to Favorites.
Other forms of healing
Later in the campaign, you will be able to unlock new features for the Automaton, the mechanical pet that follows the protagonist.
You can choose the Health Injector as a new ability for your Automaton - it will be available in the drop-down menu of disposable items and will allow you to heal for free.
If your character is very weak and has also lost a lot of Ki energy ("mana"), you can look around for a Resting Place. Campfires can be found mainly in allied locations, but you can also come across them during free exploration. Interacting with the campfire and confirming the rest option will automatically regenerate your health and Ki.
Health bar length
An important note about Biomutant is that you can extend the protagonist's health bar. The Vitality attribute is linked to the length of the health bar. You can make sure that its value is higher already when you create a new character, and you can also choose to increase the character's Vitality by 10 points each time you level up.
You can also temporarily increase your health bar by equipping your character with the appropriate gear. When reviewing the stats of the collected items, pay attention to those that can extend your health bar.
On the character's stats screen, the white color indicates the fixed length of the health bar related to the current Vitality value, and the yellow color indicates the bar's temporary bonus applied while using equipment that provides you with additional health points.
