Biomutant: Swimming - is it possible? Biomutant guide, walkthrough

Last update: 20 May 2021

This page of the Biomutant guide answers the question of whether swimming is possible in the game. We explain what to do once you reach the shore, as well as what additional hazards are posed by swimming and the different varieties of water reservoirs in the game world.

In Biomutant, your character can swim - Biomutant: Swimming - is it possible? - Exploration - Biomutant Guide

In Biomutant, your character can swim. However, you must use this option with caution as there is a high risk of drowning. This is because swimming gradually consumes Ki energy , represented by the blue bar in the upper left corner of the screen. Depleting this bar is tantamount to drowning, as the controlled character will lose all his or her strength.

You can mitigate the problem of the limited amount of time allowed in deep water in a variety of ways - Biomutant: Swimming - is it possible? - Exploration - Biomutant Guide

You can mitigate the problem of the limited amount of time allowed in deep water in a variety of ways.

The most obvious solution is to develop the hero's stats. There is an attribute associated with Ki energy called Intellect . Develop Intellect as you progress through the game, and rely on items that can contribute to increasing it or to simply lengthening your Ki bar (e.g. selected clothing items and consumables).

If you have a larger water reservoir to swim through, look around for small islands or large enough objects sticking out of the water, so the main character can take a break and regenerate the Ki energy - Biomutant: Swimming - is it possible? - Exploration - Biomutant Guide

Other interesting ways to deal with locations with water reservoirs - Biomutant: Swimming - is it possible? - Exploration - Biomutant Guide

Other interesting ways to deal with locations with water reservoirs:

  1. Running along the shoreline and finding bridges - This can help you get to your destination without having to swim long distances. A map can also help you find alternative paths.
  2. Using ropes suspended over water - you can use them to get to the other bank without coming into contact with water or other substances, though be careful not to lose your balance along the way.
Sometimes, there might be some oily substance in the water - Biomutant: Swimming - is it possible? - Exploration - Biomutant Guide

Sometimes, there might be some oily substance in the water. You have to watch out for them, because falling into them means quick death unless you can quickly retreat to the shore.

For most of the game, the only ways to deal with the oily substances are to go around them or jump on the small shelves floating on them or the adjacent metal balconies - Biomutant: Swimming - is it possible? - Exploration - Biomutant Guide

For most of the game, the only ways to deal with the oily substances are to go around them or jump on the small shelves floating on them or the adjacent metal balconies. When relying on small platforms, remember that you can do double jumps.

After you unlock Mekton Mech in the later part of the campaign, you will be able to use it to empty selected small oil tanks in order to unlock new passages.

Later in the campaign, you will unlock the Googlide thanks to which you will be able to traverse larger bodies of water with ease - Biomutant: Swimming - is it possible? - Exploration - Biomutant Guide

Later in the campaign, you will unlock the Googlide thanks to which you will be able to traverse larger bodies of water with ease. However, this will have some limitations:

  1. You will need to upgrade your watercraft by finding new engine models. This is the only way to travel to more distant bodies of water.
  2. You won't be able to summon Googlide to small or shallow reservoirs. You will have to swim.
