Total War Warhammer 3: Tzeentch - military Total War Warhammer 3 guide, walkthrough

On this page of the Total War Warhammer 3 guide you will find information about the army, strategy and lords in the Tzeentch faction from Total War Warhammer 3.

Last update: 04 April 2022

This page describes the strategies that the Tzeentch factions can apply in battle in Total War Warhammer 3. You'll also learn about its lords as well as its army's strengths and weaknesses.

Units

Tzeentch is a faction with a lot of ranged units, and their mages specialize in spells. Their army also includes decent flying squads. They don't have a dedicated artillery, though (although they do have shooting beasts), nor a lot of melee infantry.

You should add the Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (much better than the Blue ones) to your army as soon as possible - Total War Warhammer 3: Tzeentch - military - Tzeentch - Total War Warhammer 3 Guide

You should add the Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (much better than the Blue ones) to your army as soon as possible. Although described as ranged units, they are also quite good in melee combat. The second basic infantry unit you want in your ranks are the Forsaken of Tzeentch. This unit has one of the best armors out of the whole race, which will allow you to stop the enemy attack before ranged units do it.

Check out the flying units available for this faction, too. Doom Knights of Tzeentch will be a fine addition to your army - this is a fast, well-armored flying cavalry that can deal considerable damage. Screamers of Tzeentch can handle large opponents very well, so consider adding them to your flying units.

As far as the large creatures are concerned, Soul Grinders of Tzeentch are definitely worth having in your army. They are perfect for guarding your flanks. They can pierce armor and do well both in melee and ranged combat.

Barrier

Most Tzeentch units don't have strong armor, but they make up for it with a special barrier mechanic. All units of this race have it.

The barrier deteriorates first when your units are under attack. Moreover, it can regenerate during battle, if the unit withdraws from the fight (it then recharges proportionately to the army's HP level).

Battle strategy

Take advantage of the strong ranged units. Allow your armies to weaken the enemy before facing them in melee combat.

Make good use of the mobility of your flying units - Total War Warhammer 3: Tzeentch - military - Tzeentch - Total War Warhammer 3 Guide

Make good use of the mobility of your flying units. Always keep a few on hand to send them against enemy shooters, or to strengthen the front line where needed.

Don't be afraid to give your troops a little break. Since your units have renewable barriers, use it and allow them to regenerate (if possible).

Lords

Tzeentch has one legendary lord, namely:

  1. Kairos Fateweaver

Your faction leader is a mage, just like other lords and heroes. Therefore, remember not to send them into close combat unless necessary. Keep them behind the front lines and strike the enemy from afar with spells.
