The following page contains valuable information about units in Total War Warhammer 3.
If you want to learn more about units, look inside the Unit and Spell Browser - you can check it before choosing a campaign, from the campaign map (upper left corner - the vortex icon) and during the battle (upper left corner).
Types of units
Units are divided into different types. Your army will include infantry, cavalry, shooters, monsters, flying units and artillery.
Keep in mind that each of these groups has a role to play on the battlefield. The purpose of the cavalry is to attack from the flank and occupy the enemy shooters. Shooters and artillery will weaken the enemy even before melee combat happens (they are also useful during sieges), while the purpose of the infantry is to keep formation and stop the attack of the main enemy forces.
However, each faction in the game is different and has different strengths and weaknesses. For example, cavalry will not always be profitable, and some factions may not have artillery at all. Therefore, we recommend reading the individual pages of this guide that analyze the military and strategies of each race in detail.
Unit characteristics
All units have their statistics. They are the easiest to compare in the Unit and Spell Browser. Just select a unit and move the cursor over another. The stats of both units will appear on the right.
If you select a unit, all the necessary information about it will appear on the right side. Analyze your units to choose the best ones.
The characteristics of a given unit are at the very top. They show their strengths and bonuses. When you hover over them, you will get their detailed description. Familiarize yourself with them. For example, it's good to have units that can pierce armor and are effective against large targets (especially later in the game).
The green bar represents a unit's maximum health.
Below you can see what tier this unit is (remember that this is nor the ultimate factor of its usefulness, though). Here, you'll also read about the unit's physical size (which you'll know by the size of the "stick figure") and about how many soldiers it contains. You can also check here how much the army maintenance costs.
The unit's stats are below. Depending on the type of army, their list changes - shooters will additionally have values related to the shot power and the number of projectiles.
When choosing a unit, consider what you need it for. If you want someone who will flank enemy troops or charge at archers, then of course you have to pay attention to unit speed and charge power. On the other hand, if you want a unit that will stop the enemy attack, armor and close combat will be crucial.
Skills are listed below the stats. Take a look at them, because this way you will learn about the resistances of a given unit and in what situations it works best.
Experience
Units gain experience for victories and defeated enemies. You can earn 9 ranks max. They are marked on the portraits of your units as bronze, silver and gold "epaulets" (three per level). When you hover over it, you can see the current rank of your unit and the bonuses it provides.
