Solo build for Division The Division Guide

Last update: 03 January 2018

A build that focuses on solo play is probably the most popular build right now - you can easily adjust it to your needs, it allows you to play alone and it also works great in teams. This build is also good for the Dark Zone.

Solo build - basic information

When you are making a character based on this build, you have to focus on having a lot of Stamina. The rest of the points should be evenly split between Firearms and Electronics. Thanks to that your character can survive almost every fight and, by choosing the right items (Battlegear - more about that later), you will be able to deal tremendous amount of damage.

An ability to adjust this build to your needs with ease is a great plus. You can lower Electronics without a fear and invest additional points in Firearms (or vice versa), take a few points from Stamina and improve damage / abilities or simply focus only on Stamina and create a tank character. However, Striker's Battlegear is necessary to make this build work - you have to equip your character with at least 4 items (or 6 if you are able to equip all Classified Set rank elements).

Key attributes

The following things are necessary to make this build work:

  1. High Stamina. You should try to get 6,500 - 7,000 points. This allows your character to have a lot of resistance - there won't be many enemies who will be able to defeat you, even on higher difficulty levels. Stamina on this level should allow you to get 400,000 - 500,000 health points (Toughness).
  2. Firearms at 5,000 - 5,500 points. This, combined with Striker's Battlegear, will allow you to deal huge amount of damage.
  3. Electronics at 4,000 points. This will improve your abilities.
  4. Striker's Battlegear - at least 4 battlegear elements; 6 if you manage to get Classified Set items.
  5. Skill Haste - a higher bonus percentage is always better. Thanks to that you will be able to use your abilities more frequently. You can get this bonus from elements of armor and item modifications.
  6. Elite Damage or Enemy Armor Damage - both attributes work great with the stats of the aforementioned battlegear and increase your damage dramatically.

Striker's Battlegear is the key element for this build. Collecting 4 items allows you to get the titular talent which increases your damage by 1% per accurate shot - this effect can go up to 100% which means that you can deal twice the damage! This battlegear is the reason why this build is so effective - even when your character has low Fire Arms you will still be able to deal a lot of damage. Remember that the bonus goes down by 1% per second and missing your target makes you lose 2%. Wearing 6 elements of the set strengthens this bonus - each accurate shot gives you 2%.

6 elements of the set allow you to get another bonus that accumulates with accurate shots. Each shot gives you 0.02% health regeneration per second and the maximum bonus is 2% per second. In addition to that, the bonus is increased by 0,05% per 3,000 Stamina points (5% when having 100 stacks). This means that a character with 6,000 Stamina points can regenerate 12% health points per second and get 100 stacks! Just like with the bonus that you get for wearing 4 pieces, each miss removes 2 stocks.

Other bonuses of this set are also worth mentioning - Stability allows you to hit your targets easier and a huge (15%) bonus to armor damage can drastically increase damage dealt to enemies on higher difficulty levels.

Abilities and talents

The following abilities are useful while you are playing solo:

  1. Turret + Mod: Dragonbreath. This ability is useful when you are attacked by enemies who fight at a close range (a thunder icon is displayed next to their level). Enemies who were set on fire are defenseless for a few seconds.
  2. Support Station + Mod: Life Support - thanks to this ability you will be able to regenerate your character's health. What is more, when your character is knocked down you can simply get closer to an active Support Station that has this mod and get up after a few seconds.
  3. Recovery Link. Without a doubt, this is the best ability for solo players because it allows you to recover a lot of health instantly. What is more, if your character is knocked down this ability activates automatically and gets you back on your feet.

These three abilities create the best set that you should use while playing solo. They allow you to keep your character alive which is the most important thing while playing alone - it is better to fight for a little bit longer but survive than deal a lot of damage but die every few seconds.

Talents that are worth picking up:

  1. Strike Back - increases ability charge time when your health drops down.
  2. Adrenaline - using a medkit makes you invulnerable to status effects for 7 seconds. Great for situations when enemies try to throw incendiary or tear gas grenades at you.
  3. Critical Save - this talent increases your resistance when your character is low on health and have just used a medkit. Works great with Strike Back talent.
  4. One is None - each headshot has a chance to give your round back. This talent can be switched with Wildfire - applying burn to any target triggers a 30% chance to apply this effect to all nearby enemies.

Playstyle + tips

While playing with this build you need to keep the highest possible number of stacks per second - each point increases damage by 1% and will speed up health regeneration. You can use the following tips:

  1. If you prefer to fight at a short distance then you can equip your character with a Shotgun and install an upgrade that increases damage, reload time and mag capacity. Remember that a shotgun shoots with buckshot - a single shot increases your charges by up to a dozen of points.
  2. If you want to fight at a short or mid distance, you can equip yourself with an Assault Rifle or an SMG.
  3. Don't use Sniper Rifles - you won't be able to get more stacks fast and use Striker's Battlegear bonuses.
  4. Use Turret when you are attacked by enemies who fight at a short distance (a thunder icon next to their health bar) or when you have to face a boss. Enemies who were set on fire won't be able to move for a few seconds. This, in turn, lets you get charges without problems.
  5. Keep Recovery Link ability ready - you shouldn't use it yourself, it is better to wait for it to activate automatically when your character gets knocked down. Rely on health regeneration that is offered by Striker's Battlegear.
  6. Don't waste your ammo on shooting at your enemies constantly. This build is about keeping charges and each miss reduces them by 1. It is better to shoot in short bursts and if you can't get headshots then it is better to aim at torso.
