Hunters, Eniemies in Division Resistance patch The Division Guide
Last update: 18 December 2017
Hunters are a new type of enemies, added to the original game along with Survival mode. They are unique and pose a major threat. Not only can they use special abilities, and are much faster, but they also can deal serious damage and use items such as grenades or medkits.
Where can you encounter Hunters?
You can come across Hunters in two places (in version 1.8):
- Survival mode - they will appear at the very end, when you decide to call a helicopter and evacuate. For every player in the evacuation zone, a Hunter will appear. Thus, if you are not alone, prepare for more than one enemy.
- Underground mode - Patch 1.8 allows Hunters to appear in Underground mode. There is a small chance for them to appear in any of the rooms, even during "regular" enemy encounters. There is always 4 of them.
How to fight against Hunters
Hunters are very challenging, especially during the first couple encounters. Thus, it's important to stick to the following rules:
- Keep them at a safe distance at all costs. A Hunter can knock you down with a single melee attack, and finish you immediately. If you are playing alone, this will mean permanent death. Fire at them and do not allow them to leave their cover. If they rush at you, run away and change your position.
- Hunters are marked with a special yellow icon, which makes it easy to spot them. Furthermore, their arrival will be signalized by the narrator and video noise (similar to getting hit by an EMP grenade). As soon as the vision gets worse, prepare for their arrival.
- Hunters have no armor, and thus they have only one health bar. However, they can use abilities, grenades and medkits, which makes them hard to kill.
- Use a totally different approach than you used against "normal" opponents. Hunters will often change their position, moving between cover. They will try to get closer to you and finish you with a single melee attack. If you hurt them badly, they will hide and use a medkit to restore health.
- If you are playing alone, you should prepare a Support Station first (with the Life Support Mod) - if the opponent knocks you down, you will be able to get back to your feet. When it comes to main abilities, one should select Recovery Link - in case of death, the ability will trigger itself automatically and revive the player.
- If you are playing with your teammates, try to focus on a single target, and eliminate Hunters one by one. This way you will quickly decrease enemy forces, which is in fact the best way to win.
