Restoration Bay in System Shock Remake allows you to retrieve the character after death to continue the struggle. On this page of the guide, we describe the consequences of death and how to activate Restoration Bays on the subsequent levels of the Citadel Station.
Character's death
By default, the character's death is no different from other games and displays the Game Over screen - you need to load one of the earlier saves.
Additional note - choosing the highest difficulty level from the Mission category causes the death of a hero to be permanent unless you have activated the Restoration Bay at a given Citadel level (more on that below).
Rebirth in Restoration Bays
There is a way to rebirth after death to resume the game without losing the previous progress.
On each deck of the Citadel is Restoration Bay - by default, it is used by SHODAN to change people into cyborgs.
After locating the Restoration Bay, find a lever nearby. Pulling it should display a message: Cyborg Conversion Cancelled. From now on, the Restoration Bay is under your control.
If you will die on the same deck as the Restoration Bay you have taken over, an animation of rebirth in the chamber will be displayed, and you will not lose progress. The dead character will be resurrected.
