While traversing the Executive level in System Shock Remake you'll need to jettison the Beta Grove suffering from intense biological contamination. Our guide explains how to unlock the cart to Beta Grove, where to find the three jettison switches corresponding to Alpha, Beta and Delta Groves, how to activate the Master Jettison Enable Control and how to reach the Engineering level after jettisoning Beta Grove.

Reaching the groves from the Executive level
After reaching the Executive level you'll learn there are four domes connected to it, called Groves. They are:
- Alpha Grove - eastern part of the map;
- Beta Grove - southern part of the map;
- Delta Grove - northern part of the map;
- Gamma Grove - it's been already jettisoned before you arrived to the Citadel, so you don't need to worry about it.
Alpha and Delta Groves are both available right away. Beta Grove is initially blocked off. You must visit the Cyberspace Terminal to the north (Delta section) and destroy the blockade in Cyberspace.
You can travel to the Groves using carts. Reach a section on the Executive level connected to the Grove, enter the cart and press the button. This will load a new map.
Beta Grove contamination
The Beta Grove is heavily biologically contaminated - you'll learn about the contamination the moment you leave the cart through information displayed in the upper-right corner.
Disconnecting Beta Grove from the station is a mandatory objective. This is the only way to get rid of the contamination and explore the higher Citadel levels.
There are several steps you must go through to jettison Beta Grove, as you need to bypass the Citadel's numerous security measures. Your first objective is to visit all three Groves still connected to the station. The order doesn't matter. In each one you must find and use the Grove Jettison Enable Switch. This will prepare the Grove for subsequent jettisoning.
Grove Jettison Enable Switch #1 - Beta Grove
Due to the high contamination in the Beta Grove, you should:
- use the Environmental Protection Pack V1 found on the Storage level - it limits contamination but requires energy;
- stock up on medicine (medkits recommended) and Detox Universal Antidote to use after leaving the contaminated area;
- keep running and focus solely on reaching the switch - you can explore Beta Grove in detail later after acquiring the V2 Protection Pack.
From the elevator, head south and reach the Safety Interlocks door shown on Picture 1. Save the game here and fly towards the door using Turbo-Motion Boots V2. This way you won't waste time on extending the red bridge.
Follow the linear path to reach the Beta Grove Jettison Enable Switch. Use it and return to the elevator ASAP to minimize required healing afterwards.
Grove Jettison Enable Switch #2 - Alpha Grove
You don't need to hurry in the Alpha Grove, as it's not contaminated. You need to:
- reach the southern Live Feed room and push the button inside;
- use the newly unlocked Safety Interlocks passage;
- interact with the Alpha Grove Jettison Enable Switch.
Grove Jettison Enable Switch #3 - Delta Grove
There's no need to hurry in Delta Grove either. You need to:
- use the elevator in the central part of the dome and extend the red bridge;
- reach the Safety Interlocks door;
- interact with the Delta Grove Jettison Enable Switch.
Reaching the Master Jettison Enable Control
Return to the Executive level, near the elevator to the Maintenance level (Delta section - central part of the map).
The screens here display four number combinations - write them down.
Now head to the casino at the south-eastern part of the deck (Beta section).
In the corner of the casino you'll find the code keyboard. Enter the codes displayed on the screens earlier. One of them will be correct (in our case it was 670, though it could be random), opening the door.
You can now go down the southern corridors and windows. Head west. On the way you'll pass a southern room holding Computer Nodes, which will come in handy later during the Citadel self-destruction puzzle.
The southern corridors will lead you to the square south-western hall. During your first visit here you'll encounter Cyborg Diego in a boss fight.
After the battle, open the door. The Master Jettison Enable Control is on the south wall.
You'll learn about the damaged relay 428 when you try to use it. You now need to solve a separate puzzle, described on the Repairing the Subsystem Relay 428.
After making the repairs at the Maintenance level, return here again. This time the Master Jettison Enable Control will be available.
Using the Beta Grove Jettison Enable Switch
There's a teleporter in the area, making it easier to return to the central area of the Executive level.
Return near the Beta Grove cart. Don't use it, just visit the nearby Grove Control Room. Once there, locate the Beta Grove Jettison Enable Switch.
Beta Grove should get properly separated from the station, shown as jettisoned in the Status tab.
Using the elevator to reach the Engineering level
Completing the Beta Grove puzzle unlocks the elevator leading from Executive to Engineering. It's located in the south-western part of this floor, near the Master Jettison Enable Control.
To avoid backtracking, make sure you're carrying at least four of Z-44 Plastique. It can be found on the Storage level, in rooms such as Storage 1. You'll need it to destroy four antennas in Engineering.
