In System Shock Remake , Citadel levels are always described with level security indicator . We describe it in more detail in our tutorial. You will learn how to reduce the control of artificial intelligence SHODAN over the individual areas of the station and what other practical applications it has to bring the level security to 0% .
- Current level security
- Destruction of SHODAN devices
- Exploration limitations imposed by level security
Current level security
Level security is the percentage that symbolizes the level of SHODAN control over a given level in the Citadel. By default, SHODAN has 100% control over a given level and the indicator can gradually decrease until it reaches 0%.
You can check the security level at map screen - it is displayed in the upper right corner.
Destruction of SHODAN devices
They are 2 ways to reduce the level security indicator:
The first method involves destroying security cameras with which SHODAN observes the surroundings. You can destroy low-placed cameras with a melee weapon, and destroy the rest, for example, with a gun. Each destroyed camera will reduce the rate by at least 1%.
The second method involves destroying the computer nodes . An example has been shown in the screenshot. You can use melee weapons, but remember that, upon destruction, the node explodes. It is best only to weaken it with direct attacks, and then use firearms from a safe distance.
Nodes are often located in hard to reach areas, but it is worth reaching them, because each destroyed unit will reduce the indicator by an average of several percent.
Exploration limitations imposed by level security
Sabotaging SHODAN systems seems unprofitable at first, but in the next levels of The Citadel you can find some passages and systems requiring a downgrade to a specific value. The game displays this information in the upper left corner of the screen - in the example from the screenshot, the door can only be opened after the security level drops below 45%.
Remember the closed sites associated with level security (you can place markers on the map) and return to them upon meeting the requirements.
