When can I start crafting items?
Crafting is available for the most part of the game. The exception is the prologue, which is not fully interactive and does not allow free exploration of the area.
The big advantage of crafting is that you don't have to find any crafting stations or anything like that. New items can be crafted anywhere.
What are the requirements for crafting?
The only requirement is to have the items/ingredients needed to produce the desired item. You do not need to have any additional tools and the character you control does not need to acquire any special knowledge of crafting.
How to craft?
If you have the required ingredients for crafting in your inventory, choose Item 1 and combine it with Item 2.
New items are crafted instantly. The valuable information is that the game is paused while the inventory window is open. This allows you to create new things even when in combat.
How do I get ingredients for crafting?
Look for crafting materials while exploring the game world. They may:
- Lie in plain sight.
- Be hidden in crates you can smash.
- Be stored in various types of containers, e.g. cupboards or lockers. Opening some containers may require the right tool like a lockpick.
What items can I craft?
The list of possible items is not long, but each one is very useful.
It is worth noting that the amount of crafted ammunition depends on the selected difficulty level - at the lowest level - Assisted - you will receive more rounds, while at the Hardcore and subsequent difficulty levels you will produce less ammunition.
ITEM TO CRAFT | REQUIRED INGREDIENTS | COMMENTARY |
Handgun Ammo | Gunpowder x2 | Try not to use all your gunpowder to later be able to craft Shotgun Shells. |
Shotgun Shells | Gunpowder + High-Grade Gunpowder | It's always worth having some ammo in case you encounter Nemesis or want to instantly get rid of regular zombies. |
MAG Amo | High-Grade Gunpowder x2 | You can craft MAG Ammo before you get a magnum. You're not going to produce much of it, so put it aside for the toughest fights. |
High Potency Mixture | Green Herb x2 | You won't always regain all health, but the healing power is still greater than of a single green herb. |
Maximum Potency Mixture | Green Herb x3 | That way you can regain full health. |
Maximum Potency Mixture | Green Herb + Red Herb | See above. It works the same, only the components are are different. |
Explosive Rounds | Explosive A x2 | It's a type of grenade launcher ammunition. |
Flame Rounds | Explosive A + Explosive B | It's a type of grenade launcher ammunition. |
Acid Rounds | Explosive B x2 | It's a type of grenade launcher ammunition. |
Mine Rounds | - | Unfortunately, this type of grenade launcher ammunition cannot be crafted. You have to find ready-made ammo in the game world. |
Crafting and cheats
After you complete the game for the first time, you can buy cheats in the built-in store. Several of them regard crafting.:
- Weapons with unlimited ammunition - from the moment you buy any such weapon, you no longer need to use the materials to make ammunition for it.
- Crafting Companion - having this item allows you to produce larger quantities of ammunition.
