Below you can find information on how to obtain a weapon called Q-Beam in Prey. Getting this particular weapon is a little bit more complicated than the weapons described in the previous pages. However, you should definitely try to get it because it is a powerful energy weapon, helpful in dealing with Phantoms and other stronger enemies.

Warning - Before you go and search for this weapon you should get a human ability called Repair and get a supply of spare parts.

Q-Beam can be acquired during your exploration of Hardware Labs which is done during Through a Glass Darkly main mission. One of the objectives is to reach Dr. Calvino's corpse which is drifting in space. You must go to Hardware Labs in the west part of the labs and activate the hatch presented in the picture. You are moved to Talos I Exterior.

Fly to the damaged part of the station where you find Dr. Calvino's corpse. Ignore it and focus only on finding the damaged panel presented in the picture. Use the Repair ability along with the spare parts in order to make it fully functional again. You learn that you unlocked the access to Beams & Waves Lab.

Go back to the hatch so you can return to Hardware Labs. Now, you must go to the upper level of this location and you can do that by, e.g. using the Grav Shaft in Atrium.

Beams & Waves Lab is north from the Atrium. When you enter the Lab head to the room on the right. The weapon that you are looking for is inside of the glassed shooting range presented in the picture. Approach the console. Making a test shot and getting rid of the Phantom is a good idea. Only after you do that you can open the entrance to the shooting range and take the Q-Beam.
