A Mind Without Limits | Main Story Prey Guide
Last update: 28 June 2017
This page contains a walkthrough for A Mind Without Limits, a story quest found in Prey and one of the final tasks found in game. It is connected to one of the endings that sees you conceive a nullwave transmitter and employ it to destroy the Apex and the rest of typhoons. This variant involves taking care of the Typhoon problem without having to destroy Talos I.
Warning - Choosing this variant makes you unable to go through with Perdition, the ending that sees you initiate the autodestruct sequence in order to wipe Talos I from existence.

- Fabricating a Prototype Nullwave Transmitter
- Deploying the Transmitter

Acquiring the Prototype Nullwave Transmitter Plan
The quest itself can be begun after reaching the final part of The Keys to the Kingdom, i.e. meeting with Alex Yu in Arboretum. You can listen to what Alex has to say and receive the Prototype Nullwave Transmitter Plan or (in case he was incapacitated or killed) search his body to find the desired plan.
Fabricating a Prototype Nullwave Transmitter
Your first goal is to find a working fabricator, as the one found in Arboretum was disabled following the Apex's attack. We recommend travelling to Yu's office in Talos I Lobby. Watch out - you'll be harassed by Apex' tentacles during your journey to the Arboretum elevator. To avoid the tentacles, use the available nullwave transmitters which should help you eliminate the obstacles.
If you've managed to reach the fabricator, choose the transmitter from the list (screenshot above). Unfortunately, developing the prototype requires three mineral, three synthetic, and three exotic units. The latter is often scarce - if you are lacking the needed amount, consider using the recycler to dismantle e.g. a few PSI Hypos.
Deploying the Transmitter
Your new objective is to travel to Psychotronics (as a reminder - the pathway leading to the area is located on level 1 of Talos I Lobby) and deliver the transmitter to a large round chamber known as the Heart of the Coral. The chamber is located in the southern part of level 2, south from the Psychotronics' Atrium. Don't get relaxed - the path to the Heart is filled with additional enemies, including military operators, elite Phantoms and Mimes.
Reach the southern entrance (screenshot 1) and destroy the neighboring cystoid nests. Once you've cleared the area, enter the zero gravity zone and fly up to the heart itself. Try to place yourself as close as you can in order for the interactive icon to appear (screenshot 2)
Activating the Transmitter
Make your way to Talos I Bridge. The entrance to the area is in Arboretum, so you'll need to retrace your steps back to the initial stage of the mission, and use the gravity shaft to access the area (confirm the action to travel to the bridge)
If you've found your way to the floor, proceed to the Command Deck located in the northern part of the area and find the transmitting console shown on the screenshot above. Press the large button to destroy the Typhoon once and for all.
Epilogue
Warning - Do not turn off the game, as the end credits (which can be skipped by pressing one of the buttons) are followed with an additional scene which serves as a summary of the choices you've made throughout the game (e.g. who hasn't survived the game, survivors, your misgivings, including murders, as well as successful help attempts).
The scene ends with an ultimate choice - you can kill everyone still alive on the station, or take Alex's hand in friendship.
