Arboretum | Side Quests Prey Guide

This section contains a walkthrough for all side quests taking place in Arboretum, one of the major locations found in Prey. Completing these assignments is strictly optional, but every task offers opportunities to unlock additional powers or gain new items.
Lift Interference
The quest can be encountered during with your first visit to Arboretum. January will send you a reminder to deal with the main elevator, which has malfunctioned and is out of order. Your job will be to discover the reason for the malfunction and fix it if necessary.
You can access the main elevator by making your way through the central part of Arboretum (shown on the screenshot above). Continue the trek using a paved corridor ( found next to the room with the fabricator and the recycler) that will lead you to a large signpost saying "Lobby". If you've bought any typhoon powers, stay alert, as the two turrets ahead will engage you. In that case, equip a ranged weapon or an ability to destroy them from a distance. Aside from the turrets, you may encounter at least one Ethereal Phantom - proceed with caution and try to defeat both threats separately from each other.
Get past the elevator entrance to access a previously unavailable area on level four of Talos I Lobby. Proceed carefully, as the large room contains a Typhoon Technopath, who is also the reason behind the malfunctioning elevator. Moreover, the creature is supported by two mind-controlled operators. Stay close to the starting area, as the narrow corridor leading to the room allows you to stay away from the being, whose size won't allow it to make an approach. Use Q Beam exchanged with typhoon powers or recycling charges to defeat your opponent. If the operators have spotted you and are starting to approach your position, equip the Shotgun and use additional EMP charges to take care of them.
The mission will end once you've managed to eliminate the technopath. From now on, you can use the main elevator to travel between Arboretum, Talos I Lobby, and Life Support.
Gardening Tips
To begin the mission, make your way to a small garden located in the south-western part of the Arboretum, (west from the large glasshouse). Once you've reached the area, find a small note placed on one of the sprinklers and get aquainted with its contents.
Your first objective is to find Julien Howard, one of the botanists. Begin the search by visiting the local security precinct found in the south-eastern part of the map next to the corridor leading to Crew Quarters. Unfortunately, the entrance to the precinct is locked, and requires Hacking II in order to gain access, while the interior contains a mind-controlled operator. Once you've took care of the obstacles approach the computer and use it to get the location of the sought botanist. The computer data will point you to the central part of the area, not far from Alex Yu's Office.
Unfortunately, it turns out that our target is dead. Finding his body is quite complicated, as they are located in a location that is hard to reach. Start investigating the western part of the map and proceeding through a pathway leading next to a small waterfall to reach the Looking Glass Station shown on screenshot one. There are some rocks next to the station that you may use to climb to the top of the structure (screenshot 2)
The climb will lead you to the rocks that neighbor Alex Yu's Office. You should see the body now - search it to find a TranScribe recording and Dr. Howard's Growth Formula.
Note - You can access Howard's body by using the gravity shaft next to the Alex Yu's office (if you've managed to activate it)

You now have to fabricate the fertilizer basing on the found formula. Travel to the nearest Fabricator and begin the process. You'll need 3 units of organic matter and one unit of mineral, synthetic, and exotic matter.
Return to the garden and interact with the dispenser. Use the new menu to transfer the growth formula to the machine (screenshot above) and press the button to start sprinkling. You now have to wait 10 minutes for the growth cycle to be completed (take care of other business while awaiting the conclusion). Once the time elapses, return to the garden and pick up Dr. Howard's Superfruit to complete the mission.
Whistleblower
To unlock the quest, travel to Alex Yu's Office in Arboretum. You can access it by using the gravity shaft or by climbing the rocks found on the west from the office. Regardless of the chosen approach, start combing the area BELOW the balconies that surround the office. One of the dark areas should contain a body of Marietta Kyrkos (shown on the screenshot).
The area is electrified - use the GLOO cannon to cap a damaged socket (you can also Repair it) and investigate the corpse to pick up the keycard to Jada Marks' Cabin and a TranScribe device. Listen to the recording to learn of an evidence that has the power to incriminate the company.
The quest continues once you proceed to the Crew Quarters. If you want, begin with visiting the Crew Capsules on level one. You should encounter the body of Maliah Fowles and a new TranScribe.
Now for the main objective. Visit the Consierge found in the main hall on level one. Approach the security computer and open the final tab (Utilities) and read the Surveillance Raport. You'll learn that there is a secret container hidden in the Cargo Bay.
This quest can only be continued after completing Shipping and Receiving main mission, after going to the Cargo Bay and defeating all Typhons that were in Cargo Bay B. Go through the newly unlocked Cargo Bay B and reach the G.U.T.S. Loading Bay located south-west from it. There, you can open the container 3232 presented in the picture 1 (use Hacking II). In order to complete this mission you must find Annalise Gallegos' Thumb Drive located in a container. You get it by examining Quentin Purvis' corpse presented in the picture 2. Besides that in the same container you can find, e.g. 2 neuromods.
The Golden Gun
You can access this quest when you're in the vicinity of Alex Yu's office in Arboretum. You can get there using gravitation shaft or, alternatively, climb the rocks west of the office. Regardless of which method you chose, you will have to start by investigating the metal elements of the construction beneath the balconies surrounding the office. In a shaded place, you will encounter the corpse of Marietta Kyrkos (above).
Use the GLOO gun to glue the damaged electrical junction (you can also Repair it if you have the skill) and investigate the corpse. Take the TranScribe device and the access card to Jady Mark's quarters. Open your inventory, go to audio logs and listen to "The Golden Gun" recording. You will learn about the existence of the golden gun and learn the access code to Jady Mark's safe (which is random). The mission will be activated.
You can only set about this mission when you get to Crew Quarters. Go to the Crew Cabins A on level one and use the access card you've found at the corpse to open the Jady Marks' cabin. In the cabin, there's the safe shown above. Use a random code to open it (it's the code you've discovered in the audio log). Alternatively, you can use Hacking IV). The Artemis Golden Pistol is inside. Apart from dashing-good looks, it also has a bit better stats.
