How to remove heavy obstacles in Prey? Prey Guide
Last update: 08 May 2017
The page contains hints on how to remove heavy, big objects that may block some corridors or entrances in Prey. You can do it by relying on human abilities or, alternatively, by cunning and skillful use of explosives.
In Prey, every interactive object has its weight. By default, the big ones cannot be lifted by the protagonist. You can see such a situation in the above image. Pay attention to the information about the ability you have to possess in order to lift the object (red text under the object’s name).
You need Leverage which is part of the Engineer tree of human abilities (the image above). The first level of this ability costs just one neuromod, but if you want to lift all heavy objects, then you have to develop it to the third level (level 2 takes 4 neuromods, level 3 – 6 neuromods).
Attention – from this point on, you can use the said ability not only to remove objects that block the path but different kinds of big objects, as well, for example, fridges or chests. This way, you can look for additional secrets or create barricades that will protect you from enemy fire. Big objects can also be thrown at hostiles, dealing serious damage or even killing them.
If you haven’t sufficiently developed Leverage or if you play completely ignoring human abilities, then you can try to get rid of huge obstacles in an alternative way. Look around for explosive canisters, similar to those from the above picture. You can move them close to the barricade and then detonate them by firing your weapon from a safe distance. There is a great chance that the explosion will move or completely throw aside large obstacles (if you want to be sure of success, you can save the game prior to this operation and then try to readjust canisters if the first attempt failed).
