Last update: 11 August 2017
In this chapter you can find information about the fight with Nefarious Tropy in Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped which is a part of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy collection. This is the third boss in the game and winning this fight requires a little bit more effort than the previous two bosses.
Basic information about the fight with the boss
- This fight have elements that are always present but there are also those that can differ slightly with each new try. Remember about that and don't perform some of the jumps by heart because you can kill Crash prematurely.
- By defeating Dr. Nefarious you get a silver trophy called "A Nefarious Trophy".
Battle description
The fight with Dr. Nefarious is divided into three main parts which are very similar to each other. Each phase starts with you avoiding a series of attacks performed by the boss. Nefarious Tropy starts the first phase by shooting a guided missile. Jump over it in the last moment by using a double jump.
After that Nefarious will start attacking Crash with red energy beams that moves to the bottom of the screen or to its sides. Regardless of where they appear you must again use a double jump to avoid being electrocuted.
Sooner or later, Nefarious will get tired because of those attacks. Some of the plates, that are adjacent to the starting platform, start to glow red (picture 1) and will fall down. Place yourself on one of the remaining ones and wait for a moment in which platforms, that lead to the boss, will appear (picture 2). Warning - Each time when you try to have this fight the game randomly selects which platforms will appear. This means that you must adjust to a current situation. Don't risk with using double jumps and instead perform precise jumps.
Try to reach the platform with Nefarious before he go backs to full strength. Use the Spin attack on him and he will lose one of the three health points. You must STAY on that platform because the boss moves to the one on which you started the battle and you will begin the second phase.
The only difference in this phase is that the boss sends at least one blue missile. Notice that it flies much higher which means that you should stay in the bottom part of the screen. Don't jump and allow the missile to go above Crash. However, the energy beams must be avoided in the same way as before and then start jumping on newly unlocked platforms to reach Nefarious and attack him.
The last, third, phase isn't that different. Nefarious uses more of the same attacks and performing jumps on platforms may be now a little bit more difficult.
Warning - When you win the fight you must pick up a reward that will appear next to the defeated boss. That reward is a new ability called Death Tornado Spin and it has several uses. When Crash stands on ground you can press Square rhythmically. Instead of one Spin you make a tornado which is helpful in both destroying objects and eliminating enemies. If you start pressing Square when Crash is in the air then he will start to glide after he changes into a tornado. This move can be helpful in jumping over bigger chasms (you get the chance to test this move in one of the next levels).
