Chaos Claws upgrade window.

Description

The second (and the last) additional primary weapon that you will gain access to. It can be described as:

  • Its attacks are the slowest of all the primary weapons, but they deal the highest damage (especially in comparison to Void Sword).
  • Skills and normal attacks associated with this weapon allow you to literally punch through the enemy armor, which can be a necessity versus some enemies (like Riot Mech).
  • It requires Chaos Magic to function, which is featured as a container in the bottom right corner of the screen. Chaos Magic can be regenerated by picking up Blood Orbs (see Combat Focus section for details), using Magic Fonts, or acquiring an unlimited amount (for a limited time) by using the Ensnared Demon Relic.
  • It has the shortest attack range of all melee weapons in the game.

Attacks, upgrades and recommended course of development

Like in the case of the Void Sword, the skills available to Chaos Claws are more expensive than those for Shadow Whip. That's why you won't be able (at least for the most part of the game) afford wasting precious experience points on useless skills. Below you can find a list of those most effective, together with a short description (the list is arranged in the order in which you should buy them):

  • Combined Punch - a direct attack, the equivalent of Shadow Whip's Combined Whip. In comparison to that skill, attacks of Combined Punch are much slower, but they deal substantially higher damage. Additionally, the third strike of this skill can break an enemy's block. This skills is the most effective while fighting a single, heavily armored enemy.
  • Combined Claw - an area attack, the equivalent of Shadow Whip's Combined Sweep. Unlike Combined Punch, this attack is more effective against a group of weaker enemies, instead of one powerful. This skill lacks the power to punch through an enemy's block.
  • Furious Punch - the equivalent of Sustained Whip (Shadow Whip) and Vengeful Stab (Void Sword). This skill allows you to dish out a series of extremely powerful blows, dealing huge damage, which can easily punch through any enemy armor. You can upgrade this skill to add a final attack, with which u can "fly through" enemies with your punch. Buying (and upgrading) this skill isn't cheap, but the amount of damage it deals easily compensates for that.
  • Explosive Earthquake - a skill allowing you to create a series of small volcanic-like explosions, which automatically target nearest enemies and deal a large amount of damage, breaking their armor in the process. This skill is costly and will eat through your Chaos Magic supply extremely fast, but it's worth it.

Below you can find an optional list of skills (you can live without them, and given their huge cost, you can certainly find a more suitable way to spend some experience):

  • Rising Punch / Rising Claw - the equivalent of Shadow Whip's Rising Whip and Rising Sweep. They work on the same concept - they knock enemies up in the air - the difference is that they far more damage.
  • Aerial Punch / Aerial Claw - again, the equivalents of Shadow Whip's Aerial Whip and Aerial Sweep. The concept is again the same - the difference is that they deal far more damage.
  • Smashing Punch / Smashing Claw - the last equivalent skills of Shadow Whip (Guillotine and Smashing Sweep). Finishing attacks, which bring enemies down to the ground, dealing huge amount of damage in the process.
