Experience | Gameplay basics Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Guide

There are two kinds of experience levels in every game mode. Once you create your profile, your Admiral starts his career on the first level. After each mission you get experience equal to the result achieved through Renown Points. Different amount of experience is awarded depending on whether you win or lose, and additional Renown Points are granted for destroyed and heavily damaged enemy units. Experience points are dependent on the tonnage of those ships that weren't used in a round (bigger ships - less XP). If you do not use all the resources available when forming a fleet, the unused points will be added to the reward for the mission after the mission.
It is worth noting that the publicity points will also be rewarded in case of a failure, because you don't have to win every mission to complete the campaign. Renown points can unlock the slots for larger types of ships or can be spent on repairs and modifications. After obtaining adequate publicity your admiral will advance to the next level, allowing you to use heavier ships and unlock more complex missions.
Renown Points are also given to the officers involved in the battle, provided that their ship wasn't heavily damaged or destroyed. The Renown Points are given to commanders of every fleet, starting from Light Cruisers through Battleships. After gaining enough renown points, the unit commander reaches higher levels, which is gives the ability to modify the particular ship.
