Chapter V - The Empire Resurgent | Campaign Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

In the last chapter of campaign mode, there is only one storyline mission. Before you can start it, you still have to take on the last one of Nemesis ships. If you do not do this, be sure that the ship will be present during the final battle in Gothic sector.

Turn 29: The Battle of Shindlegeist

Destroy the Star destroyer.

Mission type: Cruiser Clash

Ally: Imperial Navy, Eldar fleet

Opponent: Chaos fleet

The structuring of the last mission of the campaign mode is unique. Your objective is to destroy the ship that poses the greatest threat for the entire sector. During the battle, your ships will be unable to use warp jump because winning the battle ends the campaign. On the other hand, it should be noted that if you lose this battle, you will have to replay it, without the option to return to the shipyard. Before you start the mission, spend all of the renown points you gave and upgrade the units that you want to use in the final battle.

The mission objective has been marked in the above screenshot. Remember that the only objective of this mission is to destroy the ship. You can ignore all the rest of the enemy units because their resources are inexhaustible. After a while the ship will turn into a heap of junk and Chaos forces will stop incoming. The screenshot also present Black Fortresses. They only establish the background for the battle and they do not engage you. It should be noted that whenever the enemy ship is in the position presented above, i.e. outside of the grid, you cannot target it. What works against you is the fact that at the same time, the enemy ship will be firing the Armageddon cannon, so make sure that the big laser marker does not appear above your units.

The above screenshot presents the moment of charging the supercannon. Remember that the Star Destroyer will only target Light Cruiser ships and above. Basing on the experience of the previous battles, it may seem that the assortment of ships presented in the above screenshot is appropriate for this mission. Including heavy ships into your fleet for this mission may make it considerably more difficult. The range of the destroyer is so long that heavy Imperial ships will not be even able to come close. Of course, you can use combustion, but after you deplete it, you will not be able to avoid the laser. Remember that it is capable of obliterating your units within split seconds.

For your attack, you can use all you can - bombs and long range-weapons. Target the destroyer only. Allied forces will engage the rest of the units for several minutes, thanks to which you can come close and strike the final blow.

The best idea for deployment in this mission is using two Light cruisers and as many support ships as possible - Chapter V - The Empire Resurgent - Campaign - Battlefleet Gothic: Armada - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The best idea for deployment in this mission is using two Light cruisers and as many support ships as possible. You can use, for example, Firestorm Frigates. Remember to set the ships to automatic engagement and change its value for front. If only you manage to break through to the main ship, you stand a high chance for success. The rest of the ships will be deploying bombs to stop you, so watch out for them. It is best to play the beginning of the mission in the tactical mode, in order not to lose ships in the heat of the battle.

Do not ram into the ship, nor approach closer than to the distance of 6k units. Otherwise, your ships will be destroyed when the enemy unit will be turning. The enemy ship will effectively decrease the number of your ships, so try to lead the Cruisers as close to the enemy as possible. Heavy ships will be able to hold several salvos of the powerful cannons on the sides of the destroyer. Support ships will be destroyed after two direct hits, but you can consider the fact that the destroyer will not be targeting them with the laser cannon your advantage. When it comes to side cannons, the ship may focus their fire on one ship at a time, which wins you pretty much time, considering the numbers of your forces.

First of all, try not to surround the ship, because this may expose you to fire from both sides at the same time - Chapter V - The Empire Resurgent - Campaign - Battlefleet Gothic: Armada - Game Guide and Walkthrough

First of all, try not to surround the ship, because this may expose you to fire from both sides at the same time. The above screenshot presents the situation that occurs after depletion of the Destroyer's resources. All you need is several more salvos to destroy the ship, so do not expose your ships to any risk and do not ease fire. After several seconds, the ship will turn into a heap of junk, which ends the twelfth Chaos Crusade and the campaign mode. Congratulations! You have just won a war.

After the campaign mode ends, you can try your skills in the skirmish mode or improve on your tactical skills in the multiplayer mode. Have fun, for the Emperor and the Empire. ;)
