City Hall
It's time to sumarise all the information you've gathered and head to City Hall where we can get more on the case.
You need to pin specific information to get a trace on the man:
- Subjects - Officials;
- Period - British (1800)
- Registry - Occupation
Norton
The sought man is, fortunately, in the same building, right at the opposite side. Simply leave the archives and head to the room on the left side of the City Hall.
There is a man sitting alone by his desk, wearing a blue shirt and a green vest, which will help you locate him.
After a short conversation, you need to take a closer look at him. Investigate following clues:
- red eyes,
- stubble,
- crumpled clothes,
- marking on the breast,
- a stain on the hand.
Now you have an opportunity to obtain Short Temper achievement. Before you ask any question, hit the man right in the face. This will not affect your relationship, but it will facilitate communication between the characters.
After hitting the official, you can ask the remaining questions. Don't worry, you won't miss anything, as all dialogue options have to be used up before you can leave the conversation.
Police station
After talking to the official, you need to go to the police station to get more information about the case.
After getting into the building, immediately proceed to the archives. Select the following options:
- Crimes - Smuggling,
- Subjects - Suspects,
- Districts - Scaladio.
Bernadotti
Bernadotti has an office in the northwest part of Grand Saray. We've shown this location in the screenshot above so you can easily locate it.
There is a man standing in front of the office entrance who will try to stop you at all costs. All you have to do is just hit him. He will not get back up - you can enter the building without any problems.
Here you'll be facing against 10 armed enemies. Remember that the game prefers arresting over killing. You'll see how you fared based on score and Jon's face. To learn more about friendship with Jon, visit Jon - does the relationship affect the ending? page of the guide.
After eliminating the opponents, proceed straight to Bernardotti's office. The road leads through the wooden door on the left side of the building.
You will enter a small room that contains a lot of evidence and clues. At the door there is a statue and a chest with small sculptures.
Jon will draw attention to the box covered with canvas. Beneath it are paintings of a murdered painter.
After checking things in a small room, it's time to change the task in the casebook and move on. Do not worry about people, they will be afraid of you, and therefore, they will not interfere with your search. Activate Focus Mode and start with examining the receptionist's desk first.
Move on to the picture hanging between the offices and the metal plaque underneath.
Continue to the entrance to Bernadotti's office. Use Focus mode to check the books and the photo on the desk. He won't interfere, i'm sure.
After examining all clues, you can finally talk to the man. Take a closer look at the following:
- tattoo on the neck,
- pistol,
- ring,
- wounds on the skin,
- damaged hands.
The final choice is safe - both answers are correct.
Deduction
After talking to everyone, you can finally combine all the elements into a whole. Start with:
- The Envoy's offer;
- The photo will ruin the Envoy's career,.
The next correct connection is:
- The photographer will ruin the Envoy's career;
- Neila is the woman from the photograph.
The last thing you can connect is:
- The stolen painting;
- Bernadotti's offer.
Ending
There are three possible outcomes to this case.
- Give the photo to the Envoy
- Give the photo to Bernadotti
- Give the photo to Vogel
Depending on your decision, go to the chosen person to hand him the photo.
The first choice yield an achievement (Voice of the People)
Whatever you decide, complete the mission by going to the art gallery and informing the artist of the progress of the investigation and the death of the painter.
