Beginning
The case begins in the Cordona Chronicle building in Scalado.
Your first task is to eavesdrop on the conversation of two elegant men. The correct answers are:
- blinded,
- Precise Hits,
- in old ruins.
Old Ruins
Time to visit the ruins. There are located in the south-western part of Grand Saray. If you've visited this location before, it should be marked on your map.
You'll encounter an undertaker at the location. Exhaust all of the dialogue options and then proceed to the crime scene.
Investigate the body for clues, Examine following clues:
- blindfold,
- gunshot wound,
- keys,
- a revolver.
The next thing to do is to examine the area marked with 2. There you will find:
- Bullets,
- blindfold,
- footprints.
3 marks the empty gun box. Check out its contents and the logo on the lid.
Number 4 marks the book of the dueling club that contains the rules of it.
Don't forget about the yellow duelist suit found on one of the slabs. Take it with you, you need it later in the mission. You cannot buy or rent it from a vendor - if skipped, you'll need to return for it.
After collecting all the clues, pin a different objective from your briefcase. Once that is done, you'll encounter new clues. Sherlock will replay the scene in his head and get new leads on the case.
Walk up to the hill to encounter a red stain that has to be examined and a gun in the grass. .
. The gun is a revolver - you need to look at it from different angles.
Time to reconstruct the events based on gathered evidence. Its simple enough - start with the man who was shot. He falls right next to the body.
Then approach the place marked with number 2. This man fires at the person uphill who hides behind the stones.
The next scene involves three men. One of them holds the gun box, and two of them are pulling out their revolvers.
In the next sequence, the man in the hat already has his gun on him and goes with it to the rocks uphill.
At the hill there should be a man with a hat on his head, aiming at the gentlemen shooting at the bottom.
When you accept this sequence, Sherlock will say that something is wrong here. You need to introduce some changes: First, the man with the hat. He didn't had a gun, he just dropped the box and plugged his ears.
At the hill, on other hand, there is an unspecified person that fired at the man.
After examining all the evidence, return to the undertaker and exhaust all of the dialogue options. Warning - do not tell him about the duelist club.
Police Station
After examining the crime scene, go to the police station. You need to find new information about the case in the archives. Make your way to the archives and search for the following categories.
- Crimes - Violent Crimes;
- Subjects - Victims;
- Districts - Scaladio.
Cordona Chronicle Archives
After visiting the archives, go back to Cordona Chronicle building. Make your way to the archives and search for the following categories.
- Period - Recent;
- Section - Front Page;
- Districts - Old City.
Victim's House
You'll need a police officer outfit before venturing to the victim's house. . If you somehow missed it in the course of the story, you can buy/rent it from clothing vendors.
The Von Staub residence is located in the southern part of Scaladio. To find it, go south from Cordona Chronicle building.
Once at the scene, you'll meet the deceased's sister, who you need to question. Start by taking a closer look at the woman. Examine following clues:
- stain on clothes,
- pallor of the skin,
- black ribbon on the chest,
- marks on wrists
- blood stain on arm
- bruises on the wrists,
- red stain on the skirt
Victim of beatings is the correct answer. It will come in handy during the case finale, allowing you to obtain Open Eyes achievement.
After talking to the woman, take a look around the house. You can check the piano and the paintings that stand on it.
There are vases near the stairs - Jon will start fingershooting them. . Equip your weapon and shoot all of the vases. This is one of the actions to perform leading to Join The Club achievement.
Magda's room
Make your way to the woman's room. Finding it is easy, as there is a dove on her door.
Start by examining the painting. Take a closer look at the following:
- bullet casings,
- unfinished painting,
- color palette.
Now examine all remaining paintings covering the windows in the room.
The next stop is the picture frame lying on stools before the bed. Sherlock will use it to judge the woman's shooting skills.
The last thing is to examine the makeup mirror, which is located on the left side of the bed. After checking everything, it's time to go to the next room.
Room of the deceased
The man's room is directly opposite the room you were in. Look for a black horse icon on the door.
Start with the desk, there are a few things on it to check:
- crumpled paper,
- portrait of a man,
- photo of men in yellow suits,
- open letter,
- bunch of letters.
The next interactive area is the man's gun collection. One of the boxes is empty - check it out.
Now, look at the dresser by the bed. There are a lot of documents and a book on it.
The last thing we need to do is check the box on the other side of the bed. That's all the clues in this room.
After collecting everything, you need to conduct a chemical analysis of the burnt paper. The difficulty of the task depends on the chosen difficulty level. The correct solution is shown in the screenshot above.
Sister of the deceased
After obtaining all the evidence and examining the item, go downstairs and talk to the deceased's sister again. Give her all the information you already have.
Club
It's time to put on the yellow suit you got at the crime scene. Thanks to it, you'll be able to enter the dueling club the man belonged to. You'll find this building in Grand Saray.
Even the lobby contains various clues, such as the guest book, and the glassed gun cases.
After examining the lobby, it's time to go down to the basement. A combat sequence is at hand. Avoid killing them, as if:
- You didn't tell anyone about the club.;
- You shot down the vases at Von Staub residence;
- You didn't kill the dueling club members.;
You will receive an achievement (Join The Club).
There are multiple clues in the basement - a shelf with gunpowder, casings, a rule book, and a map which should be examined.
Another major area is the table next to black sofas. On it you will find:
- a bottle,
- two glasses,
- telegrams,
- broken glass.
Finally, approach the shooting targets. You'll see a lamp on the wall that you can move. This will open a secret passage.
Inside the room you will see a man who will not be friendly to you. If you arrested his colleagues, he'll forgive you for trespassing. If you killed them, he'll be very distrustful. That doesn't change the fact that he'll tell you whatever you want.
After a short conversation, you need to take a closer look at the man. Take a closer look at the following:
- the eyes,
- breast pin,
- blemish on the arm,
- ring on the finger,
- dirt on pants.
The correct conclusion is "Valuable Witness". After assessing the target, exhaust all dialogue options with him.
His office is crawling with things you can check. However, start with the piano, on which you will find a statue and a photo. There's a table right next to it, and there's a newspaper on it.
Other clues are on the cabinet, on the walls and on the safe. No one will bother you - make sure that you've cleared the room. Once you've checked everything, go back to the man and ask him for new evidence in the case.
Ending
After gathering all the evidence and information, it's time to pass the sentence. Equip a police officer outfit and go to the sister of the deceased. The only good option is to charge the woman.
After that, you can issue a verdict, or rather prove why you're accusing the woman. To successfully complete the action, you need to choose the correct order of accusations: In order, these are:
- LeMat Revolver;
- Duel in the Ruins;
- Letter to Mr. Boddington. .
After that, you can arrest the woman. A better option, however, is to set her free, which is rewarded with an achievement(Open Eyes). This will end the case.
