Investigating the body
After talking to the Lord, you can examine the woman's body. You need to inspect:
- the strangulation mark on the neck;
- the diamond;
- the items from the purse.
Checking the vanity
Next, check the toilet in the corner of the room. 5 elements should be examined:
- the make-up bag;
- the board that covers the double bottom of the trunk;
- the butterfly ring;
- the money;
- the ring with a hidden engraving.
Conversation with the Lord
After collecting all the evidence, you should head back to the man standing at the door. In the course of the conversation, you must mention the Ring with moth design and the hidden part of the trunk with the Hidden jewels.
Desk and table
There's a huge desk right by the front door. Several letters are on top of on it, including a notice from the police station. You can easily go through them, no one will be bothered by that.
The same goes for the small table by the couch - you can also look through the document on top of it.
Doors
There's a door right next to the vanity. They lead to the next room - in this case to the room where Luka is. Check them to find out that they have a very weak lock.
Seance room
After examining the body and the room, you must go to Luka. Start by going down to the reception desk and getting the key. They'll hand it over to you without any problem.
Importantly, Luka will not notice your presence. You can explore the room first, and then talk to him.
On the desk you should examine:
- the carving tools;
- the letter;
- the "ectoplasm".
Testing the substance
To investigate the material that makes up the "ectoplasm", you need to run a test. To do this correctly, you need to chose two out of the "Available Reagents":
- red;
- green.
Put them on the left side, in a specially designated area. Then take out one "chemical operation" and combine the reagents with it. This is very important - you need to grab one of the given items and holding the right mouse button, drag to the next one. Then combine "Chemical Operations" with the unknown substance. This will give you the final result.
Talking to the medium
During your conversation with Luka, you have to look at him. Pay attention to several elements:
- the stain on the neck;
- the swollen nose;
- elongated fingers;
- the shirt/body position;
- the scratch marks on his hand.
During the conversation you need to mention the Ring with moth design and the Ectoplasm sample.
To correctly solve the puzzle, after watching the medium, select the first option which says that Luka was previously a criminal (marked on the screenshot above).
Deduction
After getting all the clues, you need to connect the information about the butterfly pin:
- The moth ring;
- The moth pin.
Clues about Luka and the Lord having rooms next to each other, and the lock being very weak and easy to open:
- Luka and Lord Craven were neighbours;
- The lock can be easily picked.
Clues about the medium being hit and the compensation:
- Lord Craven punched the medium;
- Compensation for abuse.
Clues about those accused of theft and about Emma being the one who robbed the Lord:
- The thief framed the servants;
- Emma was stealing from Lord Craven.
Clues about the diamonds near Emma and the thief during the seance:
- The diamond was beside Emma;
- Seance theft.
After looking into the case and the medium, you can come to the following conclusions. You need to connect Emma's strangulation and the fresh marks on Luka's skin:
- Emma was strangled;
- Fresh scratches.
Murderer - decision and consequences
You can now accuse Luka Ghalichi. You have a choice between arresting him and helping him escape.
Your decision will end this part of the game. If you want to continue exploring the hotel, you have to do it before you point out the killer.
Whatever decision you make, you will receive the Diamond in the Rough achievement.
Consequences:
You can read the newspaper later in the game. It's available at kiosks, of which there's a few in the city. From it you will learn that Luka is in prison (if you arrested him) or that he fled to an unknown place and is wanted by the police.
