Resident Evil 7: Wrecked Ship walktrough
Last update: 03 September 2020
Warning - all items gathered during this stage will be given back to Ethan in the final part of the game - make sure to stock up on medicine and ammo.
The pre-ultimate section will see the player control either Zoe or Mia (depending on your choice after the next encounter with Jack) but this detail doesn't influence the overall course of the stage. You'll visit the old ship that was used by Mia and Eveline to arrive to this area. Some new weapons will also be unlocked - a P19 machine gun, MPM Handgun, and remote bombs. The corridors of the ship are small and cramped, however the area contains numerous secrets and multiple enemies to defeat.

Getting on the Ship
You'll travel to an old ship, but first you'll need to choose between Zoe and Mia. The choice is strictly cosmetic (with minor differences in dialogue). You need to get access to the upper deck (1F). There are two Antique Coins along the way: one is in a ventilation shaft found shortly after seeing two mechanics in the room (turn right at the crossroads and go to the end of the corridor), while the second one can be found once you've encountered the girl on the staircase. There is a flooded room with two ladders right behind the turn. The coin is in the north-western corner of the room, next to white thicket
You won't encounter any dangers until you reach the first floor (when the girl says "We were supposed to be a family" and hides behind the door with an electric lock). From now on, watch your step.
1F Fuse
However, you'll need a Fuse to unlock the door. The item is located in one of the side rooms, which has to be accessed quickly, as there is a mutant lurking outside. Also, the room itself also contains a mutant - either pull him away from the fuse box, or make a run for the item and install it in its place (you'll be safe once the door shuts behind you). Now proceed to floor three. You'll meet up with Eveline, who will order you to watch a recording...
Eveline and the Video Tape
The recording sees you play as Mia, armed with a machine gun and a knife. This stage is linear, and is not connected to "present-day" situation (e.g. you can gather the equipment and secrets later)
First, enter the room in the middle through the wooden door, investigate the black goo, and then use the passageway in the corner of the room to get to the next area (you'll need to crouch). The mutants will start to appear - get to the other end of the corridor to find an elevator. Call it and ride to S2.
Kill every encountered mutant using ammo and supplies found along the way - you won't be able to store them beyond the area of the recording. Remote bombs are very useful in fighting off your opponents, and they won't be needed later, so use them as you see fit.
Proceed through the corridor - you'll receive a few calls from Alan somewhere along the way. There is some Corrosive in a small room at the end of the corridor - look behind the blue door. You can use the item to dissolve the locks in troublesome doors. Eveline is found in the neighboring room. Talk to her, and then leave through the same door and return to the elevator - time to visit floor 2.
The elevator will finally stop - open the door using the interaction button. Enter the room in the middle, and use the small ventilation shaft to get to the main corridor and then to the staircase. You'll find Alan upstairs. Watch the cut-scene and proceed to the next room. Use the laptop, and then use the door behind the computer.
Present Day
Enter the elevator once you've watched the recording. Use the ladder to access 4F. Search the area to find a panel with a working computer relaying the camera surveillance. Switch the feed to see the surveillance from camera 5 - you'll see Ethan.
Then, access the captain quarters, in which you'll find a Lug Wrench and a Map. Use the new item to open up a trapdoor in the elevator that will enable you to access the lower level.
The elevator allows you to choose one of the floors (F1/F2). Access the upper one (F2) for now. Pick-up a Survival Knife that appears instantly after you leave the elevator. Turn left and enter through the door that lies directly before you - you'll find the captain's key that enables you to open a locker containing a machine gun found on 4F.
Getting the Corrosives and the Painting Riddle
To find a Corrosive supply, you'll need to get through the wooden door in the middle of the area. The side room contains a simple riddle with movable paintings - create a following layout (as seen on the screenshot above) to unlock the safe containing 3 corrosives. The fourth one can be found in the north-west room located on the same floor, while the north-eastern one contains a Lockpick (found once you use the ladder), enabling you to find the Antique Coin in a locked container on 3F.
Visit 4F to pick up the P19 Machine Gun, then use the elevator to descend to 1F. This floor is infested by numerous mutants. The north-west room contains a MPM Handgun and the fuse that was used in the fuse box by the door. Return to the elevator by climbing through a small niche which you've used earlier to get to this floor, and place the fuse in the dedicated fuse box.
Finding the Cable
Now you need to ascend to 3F that contains a locked door that is now accessible as you can dissolve the lock. (While you're at it, there is an Antique Coin in an orange container). There is a shower room at the end of the corridor. Pass it through to enter the neighboring room, containing a cable (you'll have to remove it, which will take some time). While you're at it, a mini-boss will attempt to interrupt you. He is a powerful, durable mutant that spews acid once he is hit in the stomach. Use remote charges (2 or 3 should suffice). Even one charge will do the trick, as it will throw the enemy on the ground, and then you can fire at him at will.
Take the cable to the elevator to install it. If you've placed the fuse earlier, you can now visit floor S2. Proceed through the corridor. The Engine Room contains another spewing mutant. Get rid of him and proceed further to leave the room. You should see another box in the middle of the staircase. Burn the lock - you'll acquire another Antique Coin. Once you've reached the end of the corridor, use the door on the right - you'll switch to Ethan.
