Resident Evil 7: Out Before Dessert - Trophy/Achievement Guide

Requirement: Complete the "Happy Birthday" videotape scene in under 5 minutes.

Comment: Videotape named "Happy Birthday" is located in the attic of the main house (see screenshot above). You can't get to it until you gain possession of a snake key. Use the key to open the kid's room on floor 2F and then use a ladder to reach the attic (this is the same area where you can find the blue keycard quest item). You must deliver the tape to a video player of your choosing - one of them is in the trailer outside the main house.

The 5 minute time limit means that you must perform all actions without making any longer stops and that you will have to cheat a little by skipping one of the major steps needed to solve the birthday cake puzzle (collecting the telescope, cleaning it with the sprinklers and using it on the monitors).

Important - The timer starts when you gain control over the playable character and it stops when you place the lit candle on the cake. Don't worry if the whole scene takes a little more than 5 minutes, because the cut-scenes don't count.

Enter the cake room for the first time

Follow these steps (quickly!) to get the achievement:

Step 1) Take the lit candle from the dummy.

Step 2) Go with the candle to the room with the birthday cake. The candle will be extinguished, however the lights will come on shortly after that and Lucas will explain the rules of his puzzle (you can't interact with anything until he stops talking).

Step 3) Pull the winding key out of the wine bottle.

Step 4) Go to the box on the wall and open the lock by choosing the correct icons from the screenshot above: the left icon must be the hangman, the middle icon must be the bell and the right icon must be the fetus (this is where you're "cheating", because you can find out the correct order thanks to using the telescope).

Step 5) Take the straw doll from the box.

Step 6) Go to the kitchen and turn on the stove.

Step 7) Use the straw doll on the stove. You'll receive a dummy finger.

Step 8) Use the candle on the stove to light it again.

Step 9) Go right and use the lit candle on the rope to open the door.

Step 10) Enter the room with balloons and find an interactive balloon on the floor - it's shown on the screenshot above.

Step 11) Return to the kitchen area and find a pipe where you can use the balloon. It will eventually pop and you'll obtain a quill pen.

You must use several items on the dummy (in correct order!)

Step 12) Go to the dummy (where you got the candle at the beginning) and face towards its left hand.

Step 13) Use the dummy finger on the left hand.

Step 14) Use the quill pen on the left hand.

Step 15) Use the winding key on the central mechanism.

Step 16) Press a button to look at your hand and to read the password for the second lock.

Step 17) Return to the room with the balloons and approach the left locked door. Input the LOSER password (screenshot above) and confirm to open the door.

Step 18) Take the valve handle from the newly unlocked room.

Step 19) Return to the room with the cake and insert the valve handle into a water pipe on the wall (screenshot above). This will turn off the sprinklers permanently.

Step 20) Go back to the stove, light the candle for the last time and place it on the birthday cake.
